POSITION OVERVIEW
Responsible for managing all purchasing and tracking activities for the plant, including raw materials, packaging, maintenance supplies, office supplies, safety equipment, and production materials.
RESPONSIBILITES
- Develop and execute sourcing strategies that support company growth, scalability, and cost competitiveness
- Utilize ERP system (Syteline) to generate purchase orders and track order status through completion
- Review and approve vendor invoices for accuracy prior to submission to Accounting
- Identify and qualify new suppliers to support capacity expansion and reduce supply chain risk
- Establish dual-sourcing and contingency plans for critical materials
- Drive supplier performance management , including scorecards, KPIs, and continuous improvement initiatives
- Partner with Operations, Engineering, and Finance to align procurement strategy with production and growth goals
- Lead new product development by sourcing materials and coordinating with suppliers
- Select suppliers based on quality, reliability, cost-effectiveness, and service performance
- Monitor market trends, material availability, and pricing risks to proactively adjust sourcing strategies
- Apply lean purchasing principles to optimize reorder points and inventory levels
- Lead cost reduction initiatives tied to margin improvement goals
- Manage purchasing budgets and ensure adherence to company financial goals
- Monitor inventory and forecast purchasing needs to support production requirements
- Assist in Physical inventory counts and reconciliation processes
- Solicit and evaluate quotes, and negotiate pricing, terms, and contracts as needed
- Prepare, issue, and manage purchase orders, ensuring timely and accurate processing
- Maintain accurate records of purchasing activities, including orders, receipts, and payments
- Coordinate and track delivery schedules to ensure on-time receipt of materials
- Develop and maintain strong, professional relationships with suppliers to support long-term partnerships
REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Procurement, or a related field (preferred); or 5+ years of purchasing experience in a manufacturing environment in lieu of a degree
- Experience supporting business growth, capacity expansion, or new product launches
- Demonstrated success in cost savings initiatives and supplier negotiations
- Experience working cross-functionally with operations and engineering teams
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing or supply chain optimization principles
- Prior experience as a Purchasing Agent or in a similar procurement role preferred
- Proficiency in ERP systems (Syteline experience preferred) and inventory management software
- Demonstrated research and analytical capabilities to support informed purchasing decisions
- Ability to work effectively in a manufacturing environment, including regular interaction on the production floor
- Physical ability to perform job-related activities such as walking, standing, and occasional lifting
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
- Willingness to travel occasionally, up to 25% as required
