About the
Role:
The Buyer I position at Kalmbach Feeds is an engaging position that allows an individual to have a real impact on the companys bottom line. The position is in the corporate office and will require interface between Nutrition, Sales, Marketing, Purchasing and Production. A qualified candidate will have supply chain management and strategic sourcing skills. The selected individual will have the unique opportunity of identifying new suppliers, new sources, and new ingredients based upon nutritional needs and opportunities that arise. Agricultural markets change every day and the individual will need to strategically reposition themselves in response to those market changes. Managing and maintaining supplier relationships and responding to customers needs will be essential tasks.
Primary Responsibilities:
Planning and Demand Forecasting of ingredient and raw material needsMerchandising various commodities and taking positionsWriting contracts that put our company in favorable positions versus competitors and the marketplaceSourcing new product suppliers and originsComplete market and competitor research and analysisScheduling deliveries Pursuing freight savings by creating competition and finding new haulersFilling customer orders by coordinating direct ship loadsUnique supply chain problem solvingResolve purchasing problems with vendors, suppliers, and programs, including defective or unacceptable goods or services with inspection or quality control personnel, users, vendors, and others to determine source of trouble and take corrective action.

High level of detail to accurately process documents and write contracts related to the purchase and sale of commoditiesDemonstrate exemplary verbal and written communication skillsThrive in fast pace, ever-changing environment Proficient in Windows based software programs, especially Excel Team oriented to support procurement, nutrition, and sales in sourcing product.
