Job Description

Overview This position works with cross functional teams to identify, develop, and source materials and/or services in support of all products and equipment. Provides effective support for our Production areas and acts as the area representative to coordinate information needed by the department and assists in other purchasing functions as applicable.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Assure that material, supplies, and services are available as required and meet established goals through adherence to A-dec's purchasing policies. Contribute to A-dec's knowledge of new techniques and technologies by researching and communicating information on new materials, products or processes of manufacturing. Develop and implement processes and improvements using complex data analysis to ensure customer requirements are met and minimize excess and obsolete inventory. Foster positive relationships with internal and external suppliers. Ensure supplier performance meets quality and continuity of supply inventory, delivery times. Initiates inventory and total cost projects which result in price reductions, value and productivity improvements, cost avoidances and cost performance trade-offs. Develops cross-functional teams to understand company-wide needs and evaluate suppliers for quality and cost controls. Create innovative approaches to utilize and apply project management tools and techniques for procurement applications. Design and implement new tools as needed. Provides regular inventory review, and cost reporting analysis, as needed. Create and maintain requisitions, purchase orders, acknowledgements and resolve invoice discrepancies. Identify changes in customer demand and adjust accordingly. Research potential new vendors, establish contacts to develop additional sources for materials. Perform supplier qualifications and audits as needed or assigned. Perform other duties as requested, directed or assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree and 5 - 7 years' experience in material purchasing, preferably in a manufacturing environment or the equivalent combination of education and work experience. Experience in supplier and contract negotiation is required. Must possess sound knowledge and applications skills of the value chain process. Strong ability to analyze and interpret cost drivers when developing cost savings strategies. Solid understanding of materials operation, materials planning, and inventory control in a lean manufacturing environment. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build strong business partnerships; ability to convey complex issues in simple terms to all levels of the organization. Self-starter with integrity and confidence who strives to achieve challenging objectives with limited supervision in a "team first" environment. Results oriented professional able to solve problems and implement change. Experienced user of MS office. Strong analytical, time management, math and writing skills.
