Job Summary:
The buyer position will be responsible for purchasing all commodities, material items for stock and project specific buys. Working with the Project Managers and Foremen to directly enter purchase orders into Spaeder's ERP (Jonas Construction Software). This position will also work with the Supply Chain Manager and other departments to streamline the purchasing process from order entry to vendor payment. This position will also aid in maintaining stock material pricing and vendor contact information for the company in electronic format.
Pay Range :
$31 - $38/
Hour Duties/Responsibilities:
Purchasing and negotiation of stock material, commodities and Indirect material. Serve as a technical resource on material specialty equipment buys and specialty equipment related to the mechanical construction industry. Prepare and maintain vendor information files in an electronic format, as well as maintain vendor relationships. Send RFQ's and analysis quotes for best pricing, quality, and delivery. Review quotations for accuracy and conformity with project specifications. Directly enter all purchase orders into Spaeder ERP (Jonas). Communicate issues clearly with all necessary parties both internal and external. Work on continuous improvement projects to streamline purchasing process.
Required Skills/Abilities:
Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills Working knowledge of mechanical construction purchasing process. Strong knowledge with ERP's, computer usage to include Microsoft Office. Ability to drive and establish a paperless purchasing system. Maintains a high level of professionalism, patience, and efficiency to minimize internal customer dissatisfaction and increase efficiency of our procurement system. Ability to navigate current purchasing and accounting software systems and apps. Proven negotiation skills with the ability to train, coach and guide others. Ability to communicate with all levels of the company. Willingness to investigate different purchasing options and solutions based on item classifications. Strong systems background with an understanding and ability to problem solve issues within the purchasing and inventory system.
Education and Experience:
5-10 years of mechanical construction trades experience. High School/GED required. Associate's degree: Business, Engineering, Project Management or Supply Chain, preferred. Physical Requirements Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer in a standard office environment. Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
Standard work hours:
