Procurement and Accounting Specialist City of Erie - 3.7 Erie, PA Job Details Full-time $49,000 - $53,000 a year 7 hours ago Benefits Health insurance Dental insurance Flexible spending account Paid time off Employee assistance program Vision insurance Life insurance Retirement plan Qualifications Spreadsheets Governmental accounting Public Administration Bachelor's degree Staff training Productivity software Accounting Full Job Description Position Overview Provides citywide financial support including budget preparation, financial analysis, tracking and payment of bills for fixed assets and projects. Support Purchasing Manager, and departments to ensure that requirements are met for procurement.
SPECIFIC DUTIES
The duties of this job include, but are not limited to: 1. Assist in preparation and administration of the annual City budget and annual audit. 2. Monitor budget performance, perform revenue and expenditure projections, and produce detailed reports and analysis used in decision support by senior management. 3. Manage the City's business and educational travel program, including reviewing travel requests, training staff, booking travel related costs and recommending and facilitating policy updates. 4. Attend agenda meetings when supervisor is not available. Prepare and coordinate Council Documents for agenda meetings. 5. Backup for Purchasing Manager in all stages of the procurement process. 6. Record Management and Documentation collection and approval. 7. Review Police OT slips for coding accuracy. 8. Review Police payroll against OT, Details and Sick slips. 9. Review weekly payroll taxes and deductions against check and wire requests. 10. Maintain vehicle inventory and mileage records for all city vehicles and equipment. 11. Ensure accurate accounting of fixed assets and maintain fixed asset report for auditors. 12. Track special projects, including construction-related activities other Finance functions 13. Review and prepare vouchers payables for utilities and Mail contract, work through discrepancies with vendors. 14. Reconcile and pay credit card and Amazon bills. Review weekly list of bills and walk list provided by Controller's Office. 15. Back up other Finance department positions as needed. 16. Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATONS
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Public Administration, or a related field, plus two to three years of professional experience in accounting, financial analysis, or government operations; equivalent experience may also be considered. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite products, with an emphasis on knowledge in Excel. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Strong critical-thinking and practical problem-solving abilities Self-motivated, ability to work independently under minimal supervision.
