Job Description

Buyer Position Summary Responsible to effectively monitor the performance, quality and pricing practices of vendors to insure production schedules are met. To monitor performance of vendors in relation to delivery, quality and pricing to insure that production schedules are met and proper inventory of office supplies are maintained. Position Responsibilities Works under general guidelines. Reviews and places orders through analysis of requisitions and/or other authorization. Monitors quality and delivery performance of vendors. Seeks new and/or secondary vendors as required. Issues and reviews quotations. Coordinates activities with those of other departments and sets priorities in accordance with purchasing policies, functions and material control. Interviews vendors. Reporting to this position are N/A Role Qualifications Must be mechanically inclined and technically competent as it relates to Empire products. Have the ability to read blueprints and schematics. This position is responsible for procurement of ($8,500,000) in products and services; and supervises Buyer Administrator & stockroom personnel Strong interpersonal, communication and negotiating skills Working knowledge of MRP systems Computer literate; knowledge of spreadsheet program Beneficial Skills and Experience Skills and knowledge required for this position can generally be acquired with a Bachelor's Degree Work experience in a manufacturing work environment.
