Job Description
Job title Sr. Purchasing Agent Reports to Director of Manufacturing Operations Job purpose The purchasing agent is responsible for procuring raw materials and supplies for use in a manufacturing facility. Duties Research, select and purchase materials. Develop strong relationships with vendors and negotiate preferred pricing. Create purchase orders for production requirements ensuring accuracy. Inventory management. Provide analysis on costs, new and existing and review cost reduction strategies. Prepare reports and updates as and when required. Work closely with others in procurement function to adhere to continuous improvement processes. Monitor vendor performance. Contact vendors to resolve price, quality and delivery issues. Qualifications Bachelor's degree preferred. Minimum of 5 years of purchasing experience. General knowledge of manufacturing. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and MRP software. Critical thinking and negotiating skills. Strong communication skills. Working conditions This is an on-site day shift position with normal working hours Monday through Thursday, 6:00 am-4:30 pm. Physical requirements This position requires the successful individual to be able to work in an office environment sitting for long periods of time during a 10-hour shift.
