We manufacture powders, capsules, liquids, topicals and other specialty products for our own brands and contract manufacturing partners. Position Overview This is not a traditional desk-only purchasing position , and it is not strictly a warehouse position. The Junior Purchasing, Sourcing & Materials Coordinator will assist with sourcing and purchasing everything from raw ingredients and packaging components to manufacturing equipment, machinery, replacement parts and operational supplies . The position will also provide hands-on support with receiving, inventory, material movement and manufacturing as needed. A significant part of this role involves research, supplier identification and vetting, obtaining and comparing quotes, maintaining detailed records, following up with vendors, tracking open projects and making sure nothing falls through the cracks. This individual may also assist with cost comparisons, costing projects, pricing and preparation of customer quotations as their knowledge and responsibilities grow. This position works cross-functionally and will interact closely with Manufacturing, Quality, Purchasing, Customer Service, Sales, Distribution and Executive Leadership . Strong communication, professionalism and the ability to manage competing priorities across departments are essential. We need someone who can be given a project, understand the objective, research the available options, document their findings, troubleshoot obstacles, follow up consistently and keep the project moving without having to be pushed or repeatedly reminded. Key ResponsibilitiesPurchasing, Procurement & Sourcing Assist with sourcing and purchasing raw ingredients, packaging components, manufacturing supplies, equipment, machinery, replacement parts and operational supplies Conduct detailed research to identify potential suppliers, manufacturers, products and alternative solutions Obtain and compare quotes, pricing, MOQs, lead times, specifications, freight considerations and purchasing terms Assist with supplier qualification and vetting while working closely with Purchasing and Quality Request, organize and track supplier documentation, specifications and other required information Create, maintain and follow up on purchase orders and open purchasing projects Track orders and proactively follow up on delays, backorders, missing information and outstanding deliverables Maintain exceptionally accurate purchasing, supplier and project records Research alternative suppliers and solutions when ingredients, packaging, components or equipment are unavailable Assist with cost comparisons, costing analysis and purchasing recommendations Assist with pricing and customer quotations as needed Communicate professionally and persistently with vendors and internal departments Keep multiple sourcing and purchasing projects moving simultaneously without requiring constant follow-up from management Receiving, Inventory & Material Handling Assist with receiving and checking incoming ingredients, packaging, supplies and equipment Verify incoming shipments against purchase orders, packing lists and supporting documentation Accurately enter and maintain information within our ERP and other technology systems Label, organize and properly store incoming materials Assist with inventory counts, cycle counts and inventory reconciliation Maintain accurate material records and lot traceability Move and stage materials for manufacturing as needed Proactively identify shortages, discrepancies and inventory concerns before they disrupt production Maintain organized, clean and compliant receiving and storage areas Manufacturing & Operational Support Provide hands-on manufacturing and production support when needed Assist with operational projects involving manufacturing equipment, machinery, replacement parts and facility needs Research equipment, parts, technical specifications and potential manufacturing solutions Help troubleshoot operational challenges and identify practical solutions Look for opportunities to improve processes, workflows, organization and efficiency Support cross-functional projects involving Manufacturing, Quality, Purchasing, Customer Service, Sales, Distribution and Executive Leadership Help implement new processes and systems as the company continues to grow The Person We Are Looking For For this position, attention to detail, technology skills, initiative and personal accountability are critical. Preferred Experience Previous experience in purchasing, procurement, sourcing, inventory, receiving, supply chain, manufacturing or warehouse operations is strongly preferred. Experience within dietary supplements, nutraceuticals, food, beverage, pharmaceutical or another regulated manufacturing environment is a major plus. Process engineering, manufacturing engineering, continuous improvement, equipment troubleshooting or manufacturing process improvement experience is a significant bonus. Someone who can eventually help us evaluate and improve manufacturing processes, equipment, workflow and efficiency could bring substantial additional value to this position. ERP experience and strong Excel skills are also highly desirable.
