Full Job Description Summary:
The Purchasing Associate is responsible for sourcing and purchasing raw materials, supplies, and services to support production operations and organizational goals. This role focuses on vendor management, material planning, inventory monitoring, purchase order execution, cost control, and ensuring timely delivery of materials to meet production schedules and quality standards. The Purchasing Associate works closely with production, inventory, and leadership teams to maintain efficient procurement processes and strong supplier relationships.Primary Roles:

40-50 hoursKey Responsibilities:
Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:- Purchase materials and supplies in a manner that demonstrates responsible stewardship of company resources
- Source and evaluate vendors to ensure competitive pricing, quality, reliability, and timely delivery
- Solicit, review, and compare vendor quotes to make cost-effective purchasing decisions
- Monitor inventory levels and coordinate material purchases based on production schedules and forecasted demand
- Apply global sourcing strategies for key material inputs when appropriate
- Generate and process purchase orders accurately and efficiently
- Expedite and track all purchases to ensure materials arrive on schedule
- Communicate with vendors regarding order status, lead times, delivery schedules, and discrepancies
- Maintain raw material inventory pricing and purchasing data in E2 software
- Set up and maintain vendor records and related purchasing documentation
- Work closely with production and operations teams to ensure material availability and support project timelines
- Assist in resolving material shortages, shipping issues, invoice discrepancies, and supplier concerns Support continuous improvement initiatives related to purchasing efficiency, inventory management, and supplier performance
- Maintain organized purchasing records and documentation
- Provide excellent internal and external communication while maintaining professional standards
- Support internal employees and departments with purchasing-related requests as needed
- Understand and value other parts of the company, their roles, and work effectively with each department
- Execute any and all tasks assigned by supervisor
- Observe safety procedures at all times
- Uphold leadership values of integrity, excellence, innovation, and collaboration while displaying respect and a positive attitude in all interactions with team members and vendors
Qualifications:
- College education preferred
- Purchasing, sourcing, supply chain, or logistics experience preferred
- Experience working in manufacturing or industrial environments preferred
- Proficient in general computer knowledge, Microsoft Office Suite products, and job-related software such as E2 Software preferred
- Strong negotiation and vendor communication skills
- Excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
- Self-motivated with the ability to work under general supervision
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Knowledge of metals, raw materials, manufacturing processes, and fabrication operations a plus
- Ability to read and interpret drawings and specifications preferred
- Ability to work collaboratively with internal departments and suppliers
