Summary:
The Category Assistant is responsible for timely and accurate performance of clerical duties in support of the Purchasing Department. This role exercises some judgment and makes minor decisions within clearly prescribed established procedures. Essential Duties and Responsibilities are as follows: Confirming purchase orders daily Expediting purchase orders as requested Tracking late orders daily Entering price changes as requested Setting up new vendors as requested Setting up new items as requested Enter deals as requested. Setting up and entering store distributions (surveys) as requested Running survey reports, checking inventory availability and ship dates, and adjusting start dates where applicable. Maintaining vendor certificate of insurance (COI) Backing up other clerks when they are out of the office. Any other clerical tasks are required to assist with the daily operations of the department. Other duties as assigned.Qualifications:

GSC provides on-the-job training. One (1) year general clerical experience preferred. High School diploma or equivalent.Language Skills:
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.Mathematical Skills:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percentage.Reasoning Ability:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed by uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.Computer Skills:
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Purchasing Applications, Spreadsheet software, and Word Processing software.Other Qualifications:
Good knowledge of general office procedures. Have a satisfactory work record and attendance. Ability to maintain a cooperative working relationship in the performance of duties.Physical Demands:
