Classic Granite and Marble has been in business for 19 years and is Virginia's largest and premier stone fabricator. We have a beautiful showroom that leads into our office spaces, and our fabrication facility and warehouse are also located onsite. We offer full time hours and benefits and we are conveniently located 6 minutes from Westchester Commons, in Powhatan, VA. Position Description Purchasing Specialists must maintain good relationships with the organization's vendors. They perform market research to get the best deals for the company and ensure timely delivery of products and materials. The person in this position should be highly motivated, multi-tasking, and goal oriented. They need to be able to manage multiple priorities and perform in a fast-paced environment. Strict attention to detail is necessary. Must have strong interpersonal skills in order to maintain excellent working relationships with customers, co-workers, and vendors. This position reports to the Accounting Manager Job requirements include: Working with the purchasing manager to run the purchasing department Performing vendor research and selection to enhance profitability, reducing operating costs and boosting efficiency Maintaining cordial working relationships with vendors and supervising vendor activities Reviewing purchasing agreements with vendors, monitoring their performance and renegotiating contracts Using quarterly and annual data to determine purchasing needs and performing inventory management Managing purchase orders, overseeing shipping schedules and maintaining purchase records Working with warehouse staff to compare deliveries with purchase orders to identify discrepancies Conducting ongoing market research to identify beneficial purchase agreements and potential vendors Key credits for returns and damaged materials Crosstrain Additional duties as assigned A Purchasing Specialist should have the following skills and qualifications to be effective on the job: Negotiation skills Analytical skills Judgment and decision-making skills Strong written and verbal communication skills Interpersonal skills Detail oriented
Preferred Skills:
Education Required:
High school diploma or equivalent. Working in a manufacturing environment is a plus Proficient in Microsoft Office software including Word and Excel; proficient with Google drive plus Docs and Sheets also preferred. Must know QuickBooks. Ability to quickly learn internal, proprietary software
