Job Description
The Buyer will assist in the planning, execution and performance of the material management department with focus on inventory control and purchasing. While this position will primarily sit in Bethel, the Buyer will be assigned to tasks for both Bethel and Royalton facilities which will require some travel between plants. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Create POs Establish vendor relationships Source and purchase packaging and supplies Negotiate pricing Monitor Purchasing email inboxes Analyze freight-in costs and identify cost effective alternatives Maintain Vendor files Obtain and save W-9s from contractors Obtain certificates of insurance from contractors Review requisitions for appropriate approval Contact suppliers when received orders are not correct or are received with damage Review product specifications and requirements Communicate order status, tracking numbers, shipment information with internal team members Maintain cycle counts of all packaging, inserts, inks and supplies in both facilities Skills Strong interpersonal skills to work with team members, clients and suppliers Negotiation skills to work with suppliers and make better deals for the company An understanding of purchase order software platforms Good attention to detail to ensure all purchase orders are accurate Ability to work with a team Math skills to make sure all calculations are correct and avoid any unforeseen losses for the company Qualifications To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Associate's Degree or equivalent work experience Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite & Windows operating environment Experience in materials, purchasing and planning preferred Excellent communication, time management and organization skills Ability to adapt under difficult and challenging situations. Ability to adapt quickly and prioritize a must Must be able to function well in a team-oriented environment Flexibility to work additional hours when needed Professional appearance Attention to detail a must Some travel is required between Bethel and Royalton Facilities Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds, and bend and twist to move product Ability to work in both office and warehouse environments.
