Purchased/Referred Care (PRC) Specialist
•Healthcare Referrals & Claims (In-Person) (Not-Remote) Support access to outside medical care by coordinating referrals, eligibility, authorizations, and claims for a community-focused tribal healthcare program.

No additional compensation has been specified for this assignment Why You'll Love This Job Build valuable experience in Purchased/Referred Care (PRC), healthcare referrals, claims, and patient services Enjoy a consistent Monday-Friday daytime schedule with weekends off Help patients access necessary specialty and outside healthcare services Gain the opportunity to transition into a long-term position through this temp-to-hire role Duties & Responsibilities Coordinate Purchased/Referred Care (PRC) referrals and authorizations for eligible patients receiving care from outside healthcare providers Review patient eligibility, referral documentation, residency requirements, and available alternate healthcare resources Process PRC requests, purchase orders, authorizations, claims, and supporting documentation accurately and efficiently Communicate with patients, medical providers, insurance carriers, and internal healthcare staff regarding referral and payment requirements Verify insurance coverage and other alternate resources, including Medicare, Medicaid, VA benefits, and private insurance when applicable Track referrals, claims, authorizations, and outstanding documentation to help ensure timely processing and continuity of care Assist with resolving denied, incomplete, or questioned claims and maintain accurate records within applicable healthcare systems Protect confidential patient information and follow established privacy, healthcare, and organizational procedures
Qualifications & Requirements Required:
High school diploma or equivalent Previous experience in healthcare administration, medical billing, insurance, referrals, patient services, or a related field Strong attention to detail and ability to accurately manage confidential records and documentation Proficiency with computers, data entry, email, and office software Strong organizational, communication, and customer service skills Ability to work effectively with patients, healthcare providers, insurance representatives, and internal teams Ability to understand and follow detailed healthcare policies, procedures, and eligibility requirements
Preferred:
Previous experience with Purchased/Referred Care (PRC), Indian Health Service (IHS), tribal healthcare, or community health programs Knowledge of medical claims, referrals, prior authorizations, insurance verification, or healthcare reimbursement Familiarity with Medicare, Medicaid, private insurance, and other healthcare coverage resources Experience working with electronic health records, patient management systems, or medical billing software About our Client's Company Our client is a community-focused tribal government organization dedicated to providing essential healthcare and support services to the people it serves.
