Our client is a well-established local fabrication shop known for delivering high-quality custom metal products and exceptional service to their customers. With a strong reputation for craftsmanship and operational excellence, they are seeking a detail-oriented purchasing professional to support their growing team and ensure the seamless procurement of raw materials essential to production success.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage the purchasing and procurement of raw materials including steel, aluminum, hardware, and other fabrication-related supplies to support production schedules. Build and maintain strong relationships with vendors and suppliers to ensure competitive pricing, quality materials, and on-time delivery. Monitor inventory levels and coordinate with production, warehouse, and leadership teams to forecast purchasing needs and avoid shortages or delays. Source new suppliers and negotiate pricing, contracts, and terms to improve cost efficiency and supply chain performance. Track and manage purchase orders from requisition through receipt, ensuring accuracy and timely follow-up. Review vendor performance, resolve discrepancies, and address quality or delivery issues as needed. Analyze material costs and market trends to support strategic purchasing decisions and budgeting efforts. Maintain accurate purchasing records, inventory data, and vendor documentation within ERP or internal systems. Collaborate cross-functionally with operations, engineering, and accounting teams to support project timelines and production goals. Identify opportunities for continuous improvement within purchasing processes and supply chain management.
Qualifications:
3+ years of purchasing, procurement, or supply chain experience—preferably within manufacturing, fabrication, or industrial environments. Experience purchasing raw materials such as metals, fabricated components, or industrial supplies strongly preferred. Strong negotiation skills and ability to build productive vendor relationships. Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Proficiency in ERP/MRP systems and Microsoft Office, particularly Excel. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail. Excellent communication and collaboration skills across departments. Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, or related field is preferred but not required with relevant experience.
