New full-time opportunity available for a highly accurate, organized, and data-driven problem solver! Our team at Value Added Distributors is hiring a Purchasing Agent to support our long-term success, customer satisfaction, and continued profitability. A strategic and analytical mindset would be beneficial, as your efforts will directly impact our financial standing. ARE YOU A GOOD FIT TO BECOME OUR PURCHASING AGENT?
This role involves tracking lead times, demand forecasting, managing purchase orders, and cross-functional collaboration. You'll need the ability to anticipate and proactively meet needs.
Here are the minimum qualifications:
2-year degree OR 2+ years of purchasing/buying experience in a manufacturing or fulfillment setting Demonstrated quantitative experience performing unit conversions, cost calculations, etc. Finance knowledge with the ability to analyze and understand financial data Ability to identify and prevent stockouts to minimize customer disruptions Ability to balance competing priorities, meet deadlines, set daily goals, and stay motivated throughout the day Ability to develop connections both internal and externally to build trust and rapport, that supports beneficial business relationships. Ability to type 35+ wpm Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office (specifically Excel pivot tables, formulas, and VLOOKUP) Strong verbal and written communication skills, interpersonal skills, and cross-functional collaboration skills Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and independent decision-making skills Epicor (ERP) system experience is preferred

Our Purchasing Agent keeps our inventory well-stocked and ensures we're always ready to meet customers' needs and production demands. You'll work cross-functionally with different teams and departments to monitor product levels, identify supply needs, and purchase the necessary materials.
You can expect to:
Handle daily purchasing activities and order items based on inventory levels and production needs Track deliveries, manage inventory, and review the order cycle Document transactions, purchase orders, and supplier information in our ERP Analyze purchasing data and production trends, and use this information to identify cost-saving opportunities Ensure all financial reporting and purchasing activities meet company policies, relevant laws, and industry regulations Verify pricing and lead times, and recommend changes to optimize profitability Coordinate product returns and transfers Book LTL freight requests Find ways to continuously improve the quality and efficiency of our operations Fill out our initial application and take the first step towards becoming our Purchasing Agent!
