Salary Position Responsibilities:
Responsible for all purchasing Ensure an uninterrupted supply of quality parts at the lowest possible cost Work with Operations, Inventory Control, Sales, Manufacturing, and Finance Depts Purchase materials for production and other uses to meet production needs per instructions Negotiate best value with suppliers Identify and reduce long lead times in the system by utilizing material strategies with suppliers Review daily MRP exception message, purchase order status, and order action reports and take appropriate action Ensure timely delivery of products to support manufacturing Maintain purchasing data in computer system so that it is always current Resolve problems that occur periodically with suppliers Bring vendors on as needed to review pricing, inventory, and process improvements to identify cost savings Maintain acceptable attendance, quality, and productivity Maintains a neat and organized work area Review purchase order claims and contracts for conformance to company policy Analyze market and delivery systems to assess present/future material needs Resolve vendor or contractor grievances, and claims against suppliers Prepare purchase requisitions, approve and issues purchase orders in accordance with company policy and negotiated terms and conditions Be able to lift 35 lbs. Performs other assignments as requiredEssential Skills and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent experience preferred Previous experience in purchasing or demonstrated ability 2+ years' experience in manufacturing environment Understanding of engineering drawings and flow charts MRP exposure required Knowledge of Bill of Material structuring Experience dealing with suppliers including quoting, order processing and tracking delivery and quality performance Intermediate level of computer skills in e-mail, internet, Word, and Excel Strong communications and interpersonal skills needed APICS or CPM classes and certifications ERP/MRP system Custom Marine Inc. is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
