Job Summary We are seeking a motivated and reliable Independent Contractor Cargo Van Driver to join our dynamic delivery team. In this role, you will be responsible for safely transporting goods, packages, and materials to various destinations while ensuring timely deliveries and excellent customer service. Duties Safely operate a cargo van or box truck to deliver packages and materials across designated routes. Load and unload cargo using manual handling techniques, pallet jacks, or material handling equipment while adhering to safe lifting practices. Plan efficient delivery routes using mobile devices or navigation tools to meet delivery deadlines. Verify delivery details, obtain signatures, and document all deliveries accurately in company systems. Maintain compliance with DOT (Department of Transportation) regulations, traffic laws, and safety standards during all driving activities. Communicate professionally with customers upon delivery, providing excellent customer service and addressing any questions or concerns. Conduct routine vehicle inspections before and after shifts to ensure proper functioning and report any maintenance needs promptly. Requirements Proven experience as a delivery driver, courier, or in warehouse operations involving manual handling and material movement. Valid driver's license with a clean driving record; experience with commercial truck driving or box trucks is preferred. Ability to operate manual transmission vehicles confidently. Familiarity with warehouse operations, including the use of pallet jacks and material handling equipment. Knowledge of traffic regulations, DOT (Department of Transportation) rules, and weight handling in the workplace. Strong organizational skills with the ability to plan routes efficiently using mobile devices or GPS systems. Physical ability to lift heavy loads safely and perform manual handling tasks regularly throughout shifts. Excellent communication skills with a customer-focused attitude; previous delivery driving experience is highly valued.
