Assistant Ocean Freight Manager (Mandarin)

We are recruiting an experienced Assistant Ocean Freight Manager for the Los Angeles area. This position will report directly to the Ocean Freight Manager and the CEO of the North America region. The role will be fully responsible for overseeing the sea freight teams in Los Angeles, ensuring the efficient, safe, and compliant operation of both international and domestic freight. The ideal candidate should have professional knowledge of the logistics industry, especially in freight forwarding , and possess excellent team management and operational optimization skills. We are also looking for a candidate who is sincere, honest and has strong leadership abilities.
Key Responsibilities:
Team Management and Leadership Build, manage, and motivate the ocean freight teams in Los Angeles, ensuring efficient teamwork and professionalism. Clearly define team responsibilities and divisions of labor, set annual and quarterly goals, conduct regular performance evaluations, and provide feedback and improvement suggestions. Provide necessary training and career development guidance to team members, enhancing overall business capabilities and service levels. Operations and Process Management Fully responsible for the daily operations of ocean freight services, ensuring timely, safe, and compliant transportation of goods. Develop and optimize operating procedures, including cargo booking, customs clearance, transportation, delivery, and handling exceptions to improve operational efficiency and service quality. Supervise the accuracy and completeness of freight documentation, ensuring all documents comply with relevant regulations and customer requirements. Monitor cargo transport progress in real-time and address any emergencies and issues during transport. Customer Service and Relationship Management Maintain good communication with existing customers, regularly understand their needs and feedback, and improve customer satisfaction and loyalty. Participate in the development and maintenance of new customers, assist the sales team in providing professional logistics solutions and quotation support. For VIP customers or special projects, develop personalized logistics service plans to ensure a differentiated and competitive customer experience. Supplier and Partner Management Establish and maintain stable partnerships with shipping companies, trucking companies, and customs brokers. Participate in negotiations and signing of transport contracts, ensuring competitive pricing and service quality. Regularly evaluate and select suppliers to ensure their service levels align with company standards. Cost Control and Efficiency Improvement Analyze transport cost structures, identify potential cost-saving opportunities, and suggest optimization measures. Assist in formulating and executing annual budgets, regularly perform cost accounting and analysis, and ensure costs are within reasonable limits. Research and introduce new technologies or process improvement solutions to enhance operational efficiency and profitability. Compliance and Risk Management Ensure all ocean freight operations comply with international and U.S. customs, transport, and security regulations. Regularly review and update operational processes to ensure compliance with the latest industry standards and policies. Identify and assess potential operational and security risks, and develop and implement risk management and emergency response plans. Data Analysis and Business Reporting Regularly collect and analyze transportation data, generate operational reports, identify strengths and areas for improvement in business operations. Provide management with insights into market dynamics and operational status, assisting in formulating and adjusting business development strategies. Use data to support team performance evaluations and decision-making, driving continuous business improvement and growth.
Qualifications:
Experience:
At least 5 years of experience in international logistics or freight forwarding. Familiarity with air and ocean freight operations and relevant regulations. Relevant certifications are required.
Skills:
Team management experience with the ability to motivate and guide teams to achieve goals. Proficiency in logistics management software and office software, with strong data analysis skills.
Soft Skills:
Excellent communication and coordination skills, able to collaborate efficiently in cross-departmental and cross-cultural environments. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure, with the flexibility to handle unexpected situations.
Language Skills:
Fluent in English, bilingual in English and Chinese preferred.

$80,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
