Find truckload carrier in specified region or lane, negotiate rates and delivery terms based upon the requirements of the shipment. Consolidate freight into multiple stops using Koch Logistics cross dock facilities. Essential Job Functions Generate new leads with trucking companies and solicit new prospects using industry tools, such as DAT, PC Mile and Truckstop Develop strong, professional relationships with carrier contacts Qualify carriers as necessary per government and company regulations Work with shippers, carriers, and dispatchers to manage schedules Provide current and prospective customers with shipping quotes Maintain freight files and customer receipts (i.e., rate confirmation) Support after hours phones as scheduled Create, coordinate, and manage pick-up and delivery schedules, coordinating with shippers, carriers, dispatchers, and customers Resolve freight discrepancies and customer concerns professionally, and keep relevant parties apprised Manage multiple deliveries and process spot requests Directly contact consignees for loads that require appointments or notification and follow up with carrier to ensure freight has delivered as scheduled Promptly enter data into computer so that billing can be completed Arrange for load storage with necessary with agents directly Secondary Job Functions Serve as a representative of the Company, displaying courtesy, tact, consideration, and discretion in all interactions with other members of the Koch community, customers and with the public. Working Conditions Secure, climate-controlled office environment Alternate Saturdays are required Overtime and after-hours support expected, especially during peak season Supervisory Responsibilities None Qualifications Required Education and Experience High school diploma or equivalent Two years transportation experience Preferred Education and Experience Two years Freight Broker experience Four-year degree CTB (Certified Transportation Broker) License Essential Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Thorough knowledge of DOT regulations Exceptional negotiation abilities Strong communication skills to exchange information via phone, computer and in person General knowledge of loading/unloading various forms of freight Team oriented Ability to recognize, analyze, and solve a variety of issues as they arise Handle stressful situations with professional composure Proficient with Microsoft Office and industry-specific software Strong attention to detail and highly organized Demonstrated ability to meet sales targets Physical Requirements • Primarily a sedentary role, requiring prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Frequent use of office equipment, including a phone, computer, and printer. Ability to stand, walk, and move intermittently throughout the workday. Occasionally lift and carry up to 15 lbs.
