Freight Planner
JOB SUMMARY
Interact with carrier customers, to provide information in response to inquiries, properly match shipments to appropriate carriers, negotiate rates, provide information on supply and demand and pricing on a daily basis, troubleshoot issues as they arise, provide necessary information to team members and customers about the status of shipments and to handle and resolve complaints and issues with carrier customers.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
1. Outbound phone calls to solicit and match carriers with available loads. 2. Outbound phone calls to schedule freight shipments with drivers and dispatchers. 3. Takes inbound calls for carrier availability and maintain that information for future use. 4. Takes inbound calls for driver check-in and updates systems with tracking information. 5. Develop relationships with core carriers and sell those carriers the benefits of using our service. 6. Handles initial information on loss/damage and shortage claims on shipments. 7. Traces the status of shipments and provides information back to shipper representatives as needed. 8. Assists in the tracing of shipments as needed by making outbound calls and querying carrier websites to determine shipment status. 9. Provides pricing information to shipper representatives as needed. 10. Visits, from time to time, key core carrier customers. 11. Driver's production to meet company daily load count and margin % goals. 12. Trains, explains tasks, and assists in the solution of problems. 13. Searches Company records using company TMS system and provides necessary information and or reports to customers and team members. 14. Resolves customer questions related to shipments in transit as needed. 15. Maintains liaison with shipper representatives for order completion. 16. Resolves customer questions related to shipments in transit. 17. Responds to requests via telephone or email, using a personal computer when necessary. 18. Has knowledge of TMS System, delivery and transit times, various telemarketing skills, and similar data, as required.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Discusses and helps resolve carrier performance issues with internal and external customers. 2. Completes various administrative functions that are required as needed. 3. Performs other allied duties as assigned by the supervisor. 4. Know Company Core Values & Vision well enough to recite from memory. 5.
