Transportation, Ocean & Air Freight Analyst

Job Description

Position Summary The Transportation, Ocean & Air Freight Analyst is responsible for coordinating and analyzing domestic and international transportation, with a focus on ocean and air freight, Foreign Trade Zone (FTZ) activities, and HTS classification and customs compliance. This role works with carriers, freight forwarders, customs brokers, suppliers, customers, and internal teams to ensure shipments move efficiently, accurately, and cost-effectively. Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate domestic and international transportation, including ocean and air freight shipments.
  • Work with carriers, freight forwarders, customs brokers, and 3PL providers.
  • Solicit, negotiate, and manage freight forwarder quotes, rates, and service agreements for both ocean and air shipments.
  • Track shipments, delivery schedules, freight costs, and transportation performance.
  • Analyze freight rates and support carrier negotiations and cost-saving initiatives.
  • Manage and maintain FTZ documentation, inventory records, and transactions.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact with U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) and coordinate FTZ activities with customs brokers and internal teams.
  • Establish and maintain Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) classifications, ensuring ongoing accuracy for customs and duty purposes.
  • Support FTZ compliance, audits, and reconciliations.
  • Review freight invoices and identify discrepancies or cost-saving opportunities.
  • Maintain accurate transportation and import/export documentation.
  • Prepare reports and analyze transportation and logistics data using Excel and company systems.
  • Identify opportunities to improve freight costs, service levels, and logistics processes.
  • Lead weekly alignment meetings with origin/sourcing teams on shipment status, forwarder performance, and upcoming freight needs. Key Performance Areas

  • CBP and customs relationship management Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in supply chain, Logistics, Business, Industrial Engineering, or related field preferred.
  • 3-5 years of experience in transportation, logistics, international trade, or supply chain preferred.
  • Experience with ocean and air freight, Required.
  • Experience with HTS classification and U.S. Customs/FTZ compliance preferred.
  • Strong Excel and analytical skills.
  • Good communication and negotiation skills to work with carriers.
  • Experience with ERP/WMS systems such as SAP or LISA is a plus.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple shipments and priorities
Pay:
$70,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
