Job Overview:
The Carrier Representative is responsible for ensuring assigned freight is executed, building lasting carrier relationships, and overseeing daily shipment activities while ensuring a high level of customer service to continuously exceed our customers' expectations. The Carrier Representative reports to the Operations Manager.
Duties and responsibilities:
Identify carriers for available freight and negotiate competitive rates. Build and maintain strong carrier relationships. Answer inbound and make outbound calls to ensure outstanding customer service. Drive operational excellence to both customer and carriers. Manage daily load activities, resolving issues to ensure on time pick-up and delivery Proactively resolve problems that may arise while a load is in transit. Creative thinker who enjoys a competitive, team-based atmosphere. Grow business with current carriers in alignment with account growth strategy plans. Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Bachelors' degree preferred. Previous sales experience preferred. Truck brokerage knowledge preferred. Strong work ethic with a sense of urgency; able to work in a fast-paced work environment with quickly changing priorities. Works proactively and independently, with the ability to take initiative. Outstanding organizational skills and attention to detail. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Excellent interpersonal skills with good negotiation tactics. Willingness to learn new information and apply knowledge to job responsibilities.
Physical Demands:
Extended Sitting:
Primarily desk-based with prolonged computer use.
Light Lifting:
Occasional handling of objects up to 20 pounds.
Computer Use:
Frequent operation of computers and office equipment, requiring manual dexterity.
Eye Strain and Repetitive Motion:
Risk from continuous screen use and repetitive tasks like typing.
Office Navigation:
Light walking and standing for meetings and tasks within the office.
