Job Description

Position Overview:
Casanova Towing Cargo Express is seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Freight Handling Technician to support daily freight handling, loading, unloading, sorting, and shipment preparation operations. The successful candidate will help ensure that cargo is handled safely, accurately, and efficiently throughout the transportation process.
Key Responsibilities:
Load and unload freight from trucks, trailers, and other transportation equipment. Move, sort, stage, and organize cargo within designated warehouse and loading areas. Inspect freight for visible damage and report discrepancies or damaged shipments. Verify shipment labels, quantities, and basic freight documentation. Properly secure and position cargo to prevent damage during transportation. Assist with palletizing, wrapping, stacking, and preparing freight for shipment. Use hand trucks, pallet jacks, carts, and other material-handling equipment safely. Maintain accurate records of freight movements and shipment status. Coordinate with drivers, warehouse personnel, and logistics staff regarding incoming and outgoing shipments. Follow company safety procedures and proper lifting and handling practices. Keep loading areas, storage areas, and equipment clean and organized. Perform other freight-handling and warehouse support duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Previous experience in freight handling, warehousing, shipping, receiving, or logistics is preferred. Ability to safely lift and move freight and packages of varying sizes and weights. Strong attention to detail and ability to follow written and verbal instructions. Reliable attendance and punctuality. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced logistics environment. Basic ability to read shipping labels and freight documentation. Forklift or powered industrial truck experience is a plus. No formal college degree is typically required; similar material-moving positions commonly provide short-term on-the-job training.
Pay:
$18.30 - $21.40 per hour
