Chief Executive Officer MGMA Consulting Colorado Springs, CO Job Details Full-time $200,737.72 - $250,157.25 a year 10 hours ago Benefits Dental insurance 401(k) Qualifications Teamwork Hiring Recruiting Delegation Senior leadership Full Job Description Position Summary The Chief Executive Officer is the senior administrative executive of Colorado Springs Dermatology and is responsible for the overall business, financial, strategic, and operational performance of the organization. Reporting to the physician Shareholder Board, the CEO partners with the President and shareholders to translate physician-owner priorities into an executable organizational strategy and provides the professional management infrastructure necessary to support a successful, independent physician practice. The CEO has overall accountability for the financial and administrative performance of the organization and authority over the management structure and non-clinical operations of the practice, subject to matters specifically reserved for shareholder governance. A significant emphasis of the position is financial leadership. The CEO will serve as the principal financial advisor to the shareholders and will establish a disciplined approach to budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, capital allocation, revenue-cycle performance, cost management, physician compensation analytics, and long-term financial planning. The CEO will lead an experienced administrative team responsible for designated day-to-day administrative and operational functions. Essential Responsibilities Financial Leadership and Stewardship Assume executive accountability for the financial performance and long-term financial health of the practice. Develop and manage the annual operating and capital budgets. Establish rolling forecasts and longer-term financial projections. Provide shareholders with concise, accurate, decision-oriented monthly financial reporting. Analyze revenue, expenses, margins, cash flow, staffing costs, physician productivity, and other key performance indicators. Develop service-line and provider-level profitability analysis where appropriate. Maintain appropriate financial controls, policies, approval authorities, and segregation of duties. Oversee cash management, banking relationships, debt, insurance, investments, and major capital commitments. Evaluate capital purchases and other significant investments through formal ROI/business-case analysis. Oversee accounting and financial reporting processes and relationships with outside accountants, auditors, tax advisors, banks, and other financial partners. Provide financial analysis supporting physician compensation and shareholder distributions. Identify opportunities to improve revenue, margin, productivity, and expense management without compromising clinical quality or patient experience. This financial emphasis is consistent with contemporary physician-group executive finance roles, which commonly encompass forecasting, financial reporting, capital planning, internal controls, compensation, revenue-cycle analytics and strategic decision support. Revenue Cycle and Practice Economics Maintain executive oversight of revenue-cycle performance, including charges, collections, denials, accounts receivable, payer performance, and reimbursement trends. Establish measurable revenue-cycle KPIs and hold responsible leaders/vendors accountable for performance. Evaluate payer contracts and reimbursement economics. Monitor provider productivity, capacity utilization, staffing ratios, and practice profitability. Identify opportunities to strengthen medical, surgical, cosmetic, and other service-line performance. Ensure physician owners understand the financial implications of significant operational and strategic decisions. Strategic and Executive Leadership Partner with the Shareholder Board to develop and execute the practice's strategic plan. Translate Board decisions into defined initiatives, responsibilities, timelines, and measurable outcomes. Evaluate opportunities for growth, recruitment, new services, technology, facilities, affiliations, and other investments. Protect and strengthen the organization's position as a successful independent physician-owned practice. Develop an appropriate management structure with clearly defined roles, reporting relationships, decision rights, and accountability. Serve as the final administrative decision-maker within authority delegated by the Board. Organizational Leadership Lead, develop, and hold accountable the practice's administrative leadership team. Establish clear reporting relationships and eliminate unnecessary duplication or ambiguity in administrative responsibilities. Evaluate staffing requirements, spans of control, management capacity, and organizational effectiveness. Establish executive and management performance expectations and measurable goals. Develop succession plans and cross-training for critical organizational functions. Build a culture characterized by accountability, professionalism, communication, respect, and continuous improvement. Practice Administration Provide executive oversight to the staff while delegating responsibility for defined day-to-day administrative functions. Establish clear authority and accountability between the CEO, Practice Administrator, and other administrative leaders. Utilize the Practice Administrator's institutional knowledge and operational experience while progressively strengthening documented processes, cross-training, and succession readiness. Ensure significant operational issues are resolved at the appropriate management level rather than unnecessarily escalating to physician shareholders. Human Resources and Culture Establish the overall workforce and compensation strategy for the organization. Ensure appropriate professional HR leadership and infrastructure for an organization of Colorado Springs Dermatology's size. Oversee leadership recruitment, performance management, employee relations strategy, compensation philosophy, benefits, retention, and workforce planning. Ensure managers are appropriately trained and held accountable for employee performance. Promote consistency in employment practices, policies, attendance standards, training, and corrective action. Governance and Physician Partnership Serve as the principal administrative liaison to the Shareholder Board. Provide shareholders with timely financial, operational, and strategic information necessary for effective governance. Clearly distinguish matters requiring shareholder governance from matters delegated to management. Support the physician President in establishing efficient agendas, decision processes, and follow-through. Respect physician authority over clinical matters while ensuring strong professional management of the business enterprise. Build trust through transparency, responsiveness, confidentiality, sound judgment, and reliable execution. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Strong knowledge of healthcare finance, budgeting, forecasting, and accounting principles. Understanding of physician practice operations, reimbursement methodologies, and payer contracting. Ability to analyze complex financial data and communicate findings effectively. Strong leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Ability to build collaborative relationships across clinical, operational, and administrative teams. High level of professionalism, discretion, and integrity. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Advanced proficiency in financial systems, Microsoft Excel, and healthcare financial reporting tools. Work Environment This position operates primarily in a professional office and healthcare clinic environment. Occasional travel between clinic sites and attendance at evening meetings may be required. Physical Requirements Must possess the physical and mental abilities necessary to perform the essential functions of the position. Work is primarily sedentary with extended periods of computer use, meetings, and communication activities.
