Executive Officer (Chief Executive Officer) Home Builders Association of Iowa (HBAI) Des Moines, Iowa The Home Builders Association of Iowa (HBAI) is seeking an accomplished, strategic, and visionary executive to serve as its next Executive Officer . Representing nearly 2,000 member companies engaged in residential construction and related industries, HBAI is the leading voice for housing in Iowa, advocating for policies that promote housing affordability, workforce development, economic growth, and a strong business climate. Reporting to the Executive Committee and Board of Directors, the Executive Officer serves as the chief executive of the association and is responsible for the overall leadership, management, and strategic direction of the organization. This highly visible leadership role oversees advocacy and government affairs, financial management, membership growth and engagement, communications, workforce development initiatives, education programs, and day-to-day operations while ensuring the association fulfills its mission and long-term strategic objectives. The Executive Officer serves as the primary spokesperson for the association and works collaboratively with local home builder associations, the National Association of Home Builders, elected officials, regulatory agencies, industry partners, and business leaders throughout Iowa to advance the interests of the residential construction industry. Qualifications The successful candidate will demonstrate: Proven executive leadership experience with responsibility for organizational strategy and operations. Outstanding communication, public speaking, and relationship-building skills. Strong financial, budgeting, and organizational management abilities. Experience in government affairs, public policy, advocacy, association management, or a closely related field. Success working with volunteer boards and leading high-performing professional staff. A collaborative leadership style with the ability to build consensus among diverse stakeholders. A bachelor's degree is required. Certified Association Executive (CAE) designation, or the willingness to obtain the credential, is preferred. Why Join HBAI?
