Job Description

ST. CHARLES REALTORS
® is seeking a visionary, proactive, and highly effective Chief Executive Officer / Association Executive to lead the organization into its next chapter.
THE OPPORTUNITY
The CEO serves as the chief staff executive and is responsible for the overall leadership, management, administration, financial stewardship, and day-to-day operations of St. Charles
REALTORS
®. Reporting to the Board of Directors, the CEO partners closely with the President, Executive Committee, volunteer leadership, and professional staff to advance the Association's mission, deliver meaningful member value, and position the organization for continued relevance and success. We are seeking a leader who combines strategic vision and sound business judgment with exceptional communication and people skills. The successful candidate will be confident and decisive, comfortable addressing difficult issues, and committed to accountability while maintaining collaborative, respectful relationships with members, staff, volunteer leaders, public officials, and industry partners.
KEY LEADERSHIP RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Provide strategic and visionary leadership; anticipate emerging industry, technology, public policy, and member-service needs and bring thoughtful recommendations and solutions to the Board.
  • Partner with the Board to implement the Strategic Plan, Board policies, annual priorities, and measurable organizational goals while maintaining a clear distinction between governance and day-to-day staff management.
  • Lead, develop, and hold accountable a professional staff; establish clear expectations, conduct meaningful performance evaluations, address personnel issues promptly, and build a strong culture of service, teamwork, integrity, and continuous improvement.
  • Provide strong financial leadership, including budgeting, financial reporting, internal controls, asset protection, long-range financial stewardship, and responsible development of grants and non-dues revenue opportunities.
  • Maintain a strong working knowledge of the REALTOR® Code of Ethics and professional standards; ensure ethics, arbitration, mediation, grievance, and related responsibilities are administered appropriately, confidentially, and in accordance with NAR requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with Association Bylaws and Policies, NAR Core Standards, corporate and legal requirements, contracts, employment obligations, and applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain a member-focused culture and continually evaluate Association programs, education, events, communications, advocacy, and services for relevance, value, effectiveness, and engagement.
  • Serve as an exceptional communicator and, in conjunction with the President, a spokesperson for the Association; strengthen relationships with members, brokers, affiliates, elected officials, community leaders, Missouri
REALTORS
®, NAR, and strategic partners.
  • Support effective advocacy and government affairs efforts concerning real estate, housing, private property rights, and issues affecting
REALTORS
® and the communities the Association serves.
  • Oversee Association operations, facilities, technology, cybersecurity, vendors, contracts, records, and risk-management practices while encouraging innovation and operational efficiency.

  • Visionary and proactive leadership with the ability to see beyond today's operations and prepare the Association for what comes next.
  • Strength with diplomacy: the confidence to make decisions, set expectations, address conflict, and hold people accountable while preserving trust and productive relationships.
  • Exceptional written, verbal, presentation, listening, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Sound financial and business judgment and demonstrated responsibility for organizational budgets and resources.
  • Strong people-management skills, including staff development, performance management, delegation, and team building.
  • Integrity, discretion, emotional intelligence, resilience, and the ability to work effectively with differing viewpoints and annually changing volunteer leadership.
  • A genuine commitment to organizational continuity: building institutional knowledge, developing staff and future leaders, and establishing a lasting professional relationship with the Association.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Significant executive, senior management, association management, nonprofit management, business management, or comparable leadership experience.
  • Demonstrated experience leading employees, managing finances, implementing strategic plans, and working with a Board of Directors or comparable governance structure.
  • Experience with a professional or trade association, membership organization, REALTOR® association, chamber of commerce, nonprofit, or similar organization is preferred.
  • Knowledge of the REALTOR® organization at the local, state, and national levels is preferred.
  • Professional Standards, REALTOR® Code of Ethics, grievance, arbitration, mediation, fair housing, risk management, advocacy, government affairs, or public policy experience is highly valued.
  • Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education, executive experience, and professional development.
ACCOUNTABILITY AND SUCCESS
The CEO is accountable to the Board of Directors for organizational performance and effective implementation of Board direction. Success will be evaluated through mutually established goals and measurable results in areas including strategic plan implementation, financial stewardship, staff leadership, member value and engagement, communication, professional standards and compliance, advocacy, organizational effectiveness, and long-term continuity.
PROFESSIONAL EXPECTATIONS
The position requires the highest standards of professionalism, integrity, confidentiality, fairness, and sound judgment. The CEO must be available for Association meetings, member events, governmental meetings, state and national REALTOR® activities, and other responsibilities that may occur outside normal business hours. Reasonable travel is required.
