Company Overview Established in 1992, Safer Path Family Violence Shelter is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization serving survivors of domestic and sexual violence. Through shelter, advocacy, education, and prevention, Safer Path builds awareness, empowers victims, supports healing, and works toward an abuse‑free community. Overview The Executive Director serves as the chief executive of Safer Path Family Violence Shelter and is accountable to the Board of Directors for the organization's mission, strategy, financial health, and overall performance. This role provides executive leadership to the organization through partnership with the Board and oversight of the senior management team. The Executive Director sets organizational direction, ensures effective governance, and maintains accountability for programs, operations, finances, and external relationships. By leading through the management team, the Executive Director ensures Safer Path delivers high‑quality, trauma‑informed services while strengthening systems, sustainability, and community impact. Duties Executive Leadership & Strategy Lead the development, implementation, and monitoring of the organization's strategic plan in partnership with the Board of Directors. Ensure organizational alignment around mission, goals, performance expectations, and outcomes. Identify emerging risks and opportunities and guide appropriate strategic responses. Model and uphold the Safer Path Leadership Team Shared Competency Framework, demonstrating enterprise‑wide strategic leadership, ethical judgment, fiscal stewardship, and accountability to the Board, staff, survivors, and the broader community. Board Governance & Support Serve as the primary liaison to the Board of Directors, fostering a transparent, collaborative, and accountable working relationship. Prepare materials, reports, and recommendations to support informed Board decision‑making. Implement Board‑approved policies, plans, and directives; report regularly on performance and progress. Organizational & Program Oversight Provide executive oversight of all programs and departments through supervision of senior managers. Ensure compliance with all funder, regulatory, and legal requirements. Maintain systems for program evaluation, data collection, and continuous improvement. Holds ultimate accountability for organizational outcomes; delegates programmatic leadership through Managers. Financial Stewardship & Resource Development Maintain ultimate accountability for budgeting, financial management, audits, and internal controls. Partner with the Finance & Administration Manager to ensure accurate financial reporting and fiscal sustainability. Lead organizational fundraising strategy, donor engagement, and grant development in alignment with Board direction. People, Culture & Leadership Development Recruit, support, and evaluate senior managers; ensure clear roles, authority, and accountability. Promote a positive organizational culture grounded in professionalism, equity, safety, and mutual respect. Support leadership development and succession planning across the organization. External Relations & Community Leadership Serve as Safer Path's primary organizational representative with funders, partners, policymakers, media, and the community. Build and maintain strategic relationships that support organizational goals and survivor outcomes. Ensure public communications and advocacy efforts align with mission and Board‑approved positions. Qualifications Required Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant professional experience. Minimum of 6 years of progressively responsible leadership experience , including senior management or executive roles. Demonstrated experience in nonprofit leadership, strategic planning, financial oversight, and organizational management. Strong understanding of governance, compliance, and accountability in nonprofit organizations. Proven ability to lead, develop, and support teams. Preferred Advanced degree in a related field. Experience within domestic violence, sexual assault, or related human services organizations. Experience working closely with Boards of Directors in a governance‑driven environment. $90,000.00 - $110,000.00 per year
