Building Engineering Assistant Operations Manager

Position Summary We are seeking a highly experienced and driven Assistant Operations Manager to support our growing portfolio across San Diego and nearby regions. This role is ideal for a professional with multiple years of experience as a Chief Engineer in Facility Maintenance and Management, who thrives in leadership, mentorship, and team collaboration. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing operational priorities across multiple projects, personnel, and company initiatives, while maintaining a high level of professionalism and time management. Key Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day operations of multiple facilities, ensuring optimal performance and compliance with company standards.
• Lead and mentor engineering and maintenance teams, fostering a culture of accountability, growth, and support.
• Collaborate with property managers, vendors, and clients to ensure service excellence and operational efficiency.
• Manage and prioritize responsibilities across projects, personnel, and regional initiatives.
• Participate actively in industry organizations such as BOMA, IFMA, IREM, SDBEA, and other relevant associations to stay current with industry trends and professionally represent the company within its industry affiliations.
• Support the VP of Operations and other senior staff with strategic initiatives and operational needs across Southern California, Northern California, and Nevada markets.
• Assist in budgeting, forecasting, and reporting on and for operational activities.
• Ensure compliance with safety regulations, environmental standards, and company policies. Qualifications
• Proven experience as a Chief Engineer in Facilities Maintenance and Management (minimum 5 years preferred).
• Strong leadership and team-building skills with a track record of mentoring and developing staff.
• Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
• Effective communicator with the ability to build relationships across all levels of the organization.
• Familiarity with building systems, energy management, and preventative maintenance programs.
• Active involvement or willingness to participate in BOMA, IFMA, SDBEA, and similar organizations.
• Ability to travel occasionally in support of operations in SoCal, NorCal, and Nevada. Preferred Skills
• Technical certifications in HVAC, electrical, or mechanical systems.
• Experience with CMMS and building automation systems.
• Project management experience in multi-site operations.

$85,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
