This is a hands-on executive leadership role — not a desk job. The right candidate understands how construction businesses actually run: in the field, in the office, and on the bottom line. You will serve as the operational center of the company, owning day-to-day execution across both the plumbing and underground utilities divisions. This is an ideal role for a construction executive who has grown beyond managing individual projects and is ready to lead an entire business platform — with a real path toward long-term equity and ownership participation.
  • KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Operational leadership Lead day-to-day field and office operations across both divisions Drive production, scheduling, and manpower allocation Ensure jobs are delivered safely, profitably, and on schedule Conduct regular jobsite visits and field reviews Hold superintendents and foremen accountable for production and quality Reduce operational dependency on any single person Financial oversight Review job costing, WIP, billing, and margin performance monthly Partner with accounting on cash flow and collections Improve forecasting and project financial discipline Identify inefficiencies impacting profitability Team & culture Lead PMs, estimators, superintendents, and field leadership Build credibility with field crews quickly and authentically Recruit, develop, and retain operational talent Transition the business from founder-dependent to system-driven Systems & growth Improve scheduling, reporting, and operational workflows Create repeatable processes that improve scalability Maintain relationships with GCs, owners, and vendors Support estimating, preconstruction, and growth initiatives Identify expansion opportunities in both divisions •
EXPERIENCE
  • Must have
Required:
10+ years and deep operational knowledge in commercial underground utilities or plumbing construction Experience managing multiple concurrent projects and field teams Experience overseeing superintendents, PMs, and operations staff Strong command of scheduling, job costing, billing / WIP, labor productivity, and construction cash flow Strongly preferred Preferred Previous title: GM, VP Operations, Operations Director, Division Manager, or Senior Project Executive Experience scaling a subcontracting business Experience improving systems Northern California construction market experience Familiarity with Procore, Sage, or similar construction
