Salary Reports to: President/CEO Position Summary The Chief Operating Officer (COO) is a senior executive responsible for leading the internal operations, financial management, revenue development, and organizational effectiveness of the Greater Fort Myers and Sanibel and Captiva Islands Chambers of Commerce and their affiliated entities. Serving as a strategic partner to the President/CEO, the COO translates vision and strategy into operational excellence, sustainable revenue growth, and high performing systems and teams. The COO provides executive leadership across finance, human resources, facilities, technology, and internal operations while also coordinating revenue strategies across Chamber and their affiliates. In the CEO's absence, the COO provides executive leadership and decision-making authority consistent with Board policies and the organization's mission. The COO is accountable for organizational financial performance, operational efficiency, and revenue target attainment across the Chambers and affiliated entities. Essential Responsibilities Executive & Operational Leadership Oversee day-to-day operations of Chambers and affiliated entities, ensuring alignment with mission, goals, and Board policy. Serve as a member of the senior leadership team and provide executive leadership in the absence of the CEO. Lead internal systems including operations, database management, and information technology. Maintain and continuously improve operational policies, procedures, and internal controls. Strategically lead the industry round tables and committee meetings Oversee facility operations, maintenance, and vendor relationships. Financial Management & Oversight Provide executive oversight of budgeting, financial planning, and financial performance for Chambers and affiliated entities, including: o Greater Fort Myers Chamber Foundation o Sanibel Captiva Visitor and Convention Bureau o Florida Restaurant and Lodging Association MOU Partner with the CEO and Treasurer to develop and enforce financial policies, controls, and risk management practices. Lead the annual budgeting process and long-range financial planning. Present financial reports and analysis to the CEO, Board, and committees. Oversee payroll, benefits administration, and financial compliance. Work closely with bookkeepers and accountants to ensure sound daily financial operations. Revenue Development & Sustainability Assist in coordinating revenue strategies across all entities. Lead development and execution of revenue plans including membership, sponsorships, events, grants, and earned income. Partner with the CEO, Board, and volunteers on sponsorship development and major revenue initiatives. Monitor revenue performance and adjust strategies to meet or exceed targets. Human Resources & Organizational Development Provide executive oversight of human resources functions including onboarding, performance management, and policy implementation. Support the CEO in onboarding new employees and Board members. Recommend and implement updates to personnel policies and organizational practices. Foster a positive, inclusive, and high-performing organizational culture. Vendor & Contract Management Evaluate, negotiate, and manage vendor contracts and memoranda of understanding. Implement a revolving bid process in accordance with policy. Maintain accurate contract records and compliance documentation. Supervisory Responsibilities The COO provides direct supervision to: Communications and Events Team Accounting Team Foundation leadership Contracted personnel and vendors as assigned Qualifications & Experience Minimum 7-10 years of senior leadership experience, including direct and indirect staff management. Demonstrated experience in financial oversight, budgeting, and organizational operations. Proven success in revenue development and financial sustainability. Chamber of Commerce, association, nonprofit, or multi-entity organizational experience strongly preferred. Experience working with boards and volunteer leadership. Standard work schedule with flexibility required for evening or extended hours. Occasional lifting of up to 40 pounds. Minimal travel required.
Pay:
$85,000.00 - $95,000.00 per year
