SUMMARY The Vice President of Operations is a strategic thought leader, strong communicator and tactical executor with a heavy on the floor presence holding full P&L responsibility for an assigned region, specific business unit or Enterprise Account. Critical Success Factors include driving a safety culture with consistent execution in all associated facilities, developing collaborative partnerships with key Customer stakeholders and consistently delivering Operational Excellence in a high velocity environment. The VP leads a team of Directors, Senior Managers and highly motivated teammates striving to be the best in class through innovation, continuous improvement, and consistency with achieving defined Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) while driving a world class safety culture.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Create trusting partnerships with key Customer stakeholders ensuring alignment with strategic objectives, contractual obligations, service-level agreements, and performance metrics. Ability to interpret Customer feedback and convert it into immediate action driving positive results. Conduct Operational Reviews with a meaningful cadence that highlights historical performance and focuses on proactive initiatives driving efficiency and profitability enhancements both internally and externally. Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements, company policies, and customer standards, including safety protocols and quality assurance measures. Develop, socialize and execute comprehensive strategies to enhance operational efficiency, reduce costs, and deliver best-in-class service across multiple high velocity contract logistics sites. Drive continuous improvement initiatives using Lean Six Sigma principles to identify inefficiencies, eliminate waste, and improve process quality and speed. Must have the ability to improve underperforming areas and implement sustainable solutions that strengthen outcomes and long-term effectiveness. Establish and enforce standardized operating procedures, governance frameworks, and best practices to ensure consistency and compliance across all locations. Oversee the deployment, utilization, and performance of automated fulfillment solutions and advanced warehouse technologies, ensuring they enhance productivity, accuracy, and throughput. Partner with the Innovation and Engineering teams to evaluate, pilot, and implement new automation technologies—such as robotics, goods-to-person systems, and workflow digitization tools—driving improvements in safety, efficiency, and overall operational quality. Provide leadership, coaching and mentorship to direct reports and high performers, fostering a culture of accountability, innovation, and high performance throughout the organization. Manage full P&L responsibility for assigned operations, including monitoring financial performance, analyzing variances, and implementing corrective actions to achieve budgetary and margin targets. Oversee capacity planning, labor management, and facility utilization to ensure scalability and flexibility in meeting customer demands and seasonal fluctuations. Define, track, and analyze KPIs for operational efficiency, customer satisfaction, and cost control; develop action plans to address gaps and drive improvement. Collaborate with Sales, Solutions Design, and IT teams to deliver integrated logistics solutions, support new business implementations, and contribute to strategic growth initiatives. Be visible and hands-on to assess operational performance, engage with local leadership teams, and reinforce strategic priorities and company values.
QUALIFICATONS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty consistently and satisfactorily. Education & Experience:
Bachelor's degree required; MBA or advanced degree preferred. Minimum of 15 years of progressive experience in logistics or supply chain management, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role (VP equivalency) overseeing high velocity multi-site operations. Lean Six Sigma certification (Black Belt or Green Belt) strongly preferred, with demonstrated experience applying methodologies to drive measurable improvements. A heavy focus on Gemba netting front line waste elimination and quality improvements. Proven track record of managing large-scale operations, delivering financial results, and leading cross-functional teams in a complex logistics environment. Strong financial acumen with experience in budgeting, forecasting, and P&L management. Must have experience in leading, implementing and sustaining operations in a medical device, life sciences, or highly regulated environment.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Deep understanding of complex contract logistics operations across multi-site warehousing, labor models, capacity planning, and SLA management. Knowledge of automation and warehouse technologies that improve efficiency, accuracy, and throughput. Expertise in Lean Six Sigma and continuous improvement methodologies. Knowledge of regulatory compliance and safety standards (e.g., OSHA/ISO/FDA) in high‑volume distribution environments. Strong financial and P&L management skills, including forecasting, budgeting, and capital planning. Skilled in leading change and implementing new technologies in partnership with Innovation, Engineering, and Technology teams. Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship‑building skills with the ability to influence at all levels both internally and externally. Strong data analysis and KPI‑driven performance management capabilities. Ability to build and lead high‑performing teams across multiple sites, promoting accountability and continuous improvement. Ability to scale operations during peak periods and adjust to evolving business needs, customer requirements, and technology changes.
