Job Description
Family Flowers is looking for an experienced, strategic, and hands-on Vice President of Operations to join our executive leadership team. The Vice President of Operations is responsible for leading and growing our multi-location retail operations while driving operational excellence, sales growth, profitability, customer experience, and organizational effectiveness. Reporting directly to the CEO, this role will work closely with the executive leadership team to develop and execute operational strategies that support Family Flowers' continued growth. The VP of Operations will serve as a critical link between executive leadership and field operations, ensuring our teams have the people, processes, systems, and support they need to succeed. What You'll Do Lead Our Operations Strategy Develop and execute the company's overall operations strategy in partnership with the CEO and executive leadership team. Provide strategic leadership and oversight for retail operations across multiple locations and markets. Establish clear operational standards, goals, KPIs, and accountability measures. Ensure consistent execution of company strategy, policies, SOPs, and operational standards across all locations. Identify operational risks and opportunities and develop effective solutions. Evaluate organizational structure, resources, and processes to support current operations and future growth. Provide regular updates and recommendations to the executive team regarding operational performance, challenges, and opportunities. Drive Financial & Business Performance Lead operational efforts that support sales growth, profitability, and overall business performance. Develop strategies to improve margins, manage labor and COGS, control costs, and increase productivity. Establish and monitor operational KPIs and performance metrics. Partner with Finance and operational leaders on budgets, forecasts, and action plans. Analyze business trends and financial performance to identify opportunities for improvement. Hold operational leaders accountable for achieving performance and financial objectives. Build Strong Leaders & Teams Lead, coach, and develop senior operational leaders, Regional Managers, Store Managers, and other operational team members. Establish clear expectations and accountability throughout the operations organization. Build leadership pipelines, succession plans, and talent development strategies. Partner with Human Resources on recruiting, retention, performance management, training, and employee development. Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, continuous improvement, and high performance. Model and reinforce the Family Flowers Core Values throughout the organization. Enhance Customer Experience & Sales Growth Establish company-wide expectations for delivering an exceptional customer experience. Develop operational strategies that support customer loyalty, retention, and brand reputation. Partner with Marketing and other departments to support sales and market growth. Identify opportunities to increase revenue, improve customer acquisition and retention, and strengthen market performance. Ensure operational teams are prepared to execute seasonal, holiday, and company-wide initiatives. Create Operational Excellence & Scalability Develop and maintain scalable processes that support consistency, efficiency, profitability, and growth. Lead the development and continuous improvement of company-wide SOPs and operational processes. Identify opportunities to streamline operations and leverage technology. Lead major operational initiatives, system implementations, and organizational changes. Evaluate new business opportunities, locations, and operational models as needed to support company growth. Oversee Facilities, Safety & Risk Provide executive oversight of company facilities, equipment, vehicles, and other operational assets in partnership with the Fleet and Facilities Manager. Establish standards for safety, security, facility maintenance, and asset protection. Identify operational risks and develop appropriate mitigation strategies. Partner with HR and other leaders on employee, safety, compliance, and risk-related matters. Promote a safe, professional, and productive environment for employees and customers. Collaborate Across the Organization Serve as the primary executive connection between senior leadership and field operations. Partner closely with Finance, Human Resources, Marketing, Training, IT, and other departments. Ensure company initiatives are clearly communicated and effectively implemented throughout operations. Build strong relationships with employees, operational leaders, vendors, and business partners. Represent Family Flowers professionally with internal and external stakeholders. What We're Looking For 7-10+ years of progressive leadership experience in retail, restaurant, hospitality, or another multi-unit operating environment. Demonstrated experience leading multi-location operations across multiple markets or states. Experience leading and developing managers and senior operational leaders. Proven success managing sales, labor, COGS, profitability, and operational KPIs. Experience developing and executing company-wide operational strategies. Experience scaling processes, systems, and teams to support organizational growth. Strong financial and business acumen. Excellent leadership, communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills. Ability to travel approximately 50% of the time. Bachelor's degree in Business, Operations, Management, or a related field preferred. Equivalent executive leadership experience will be considered. Floral industry experience is a plus, but not required. The Right Person for This Role Is... A strong leader who can see the big picture without losing sight of what is happening in the field. Working Requirements Ability to travel frequently by automobile and air, including overnight travel as needed. Approximately 50% travel is expected. Ability to work in retail stores, offices, warehouses, and other operational environments. Ability to stand, walk, and move throughout retail locations for extended periods. Flexibility to work varying schedules based on business needs, including weekends, holidays, and peak seasonal periods when necessary.
