09/30/2026 Apply now Back to Search COO / Director of Operations - Snow & Landscape Ser vices | $130-140K+ | Onsite | Direct Hire | Des Moines, IA Job Description Are you an experienced operations leader who understands what it takes to run and scale a commercial snow removal, landscaping, or property maintenance operation? Our client is seeking a COO or Director of Operations to take ownership of day-to-day production and field operations while partnering closely with ownership on continued growth. This hands-on leadership role will oversee field teams, subcontractors, equipment, scheduling, service quality, and operational performance. Commercial Snow removal experience is especially valuable due to the planning, urgency, staffing, and subcontractor coordination required during seasonal events.
What You'll Do:
Lead day-to-day production, field operations, crews, supervisors, and subcontractors Coordinate staffing, equipment, scheduling, routing, and resources across commercial properties Lead planning and execution for commercial snow and ice management Build and maintain a dependable network of subcontractors and industry partners Oversee landscaping, lawn care, grounds maintenance, and related property services Monitor job costs, labor productivity, equipment utilization, operating margins, and profitability Establish operational KPIs and scalable processes to support continued growth Partner with ownership on budgeting, forecasting, capacity planning, and operational strategy
Qualifications & Requirements:
Significant operations leadership experience in commercial snow removal, landscaping, lawn care, property maintenance, or a closely related field-service industry Direct commercial snow removal/snow management experience strongly preferred Established, exsisting network of subcontractors, vendors, equipment providers, and industry relationships highly preferred Experience leading field crews, supervisors, and subcontractors Strong understanding of job costing, labor productivity, budgeting, operational margins, and profitability Proven ability to improve processes, create accountability, and scale field operations Ability to remain highly responsive during snow events and other time-sensitive situations
