Job Description
Vice President, Payments Director The Payments Director is responsible for the effective management and delivery of payment services, including deposit accounts, funds transfers, ACH, check processing and settlement, and credit card services. This role will also develop and implement strategies to improve payment products and support overall organizational growth. Success in this role will come from using reporting and data to identify opportunities for improvement, working with other departments to implement changes, managing payment partners, and overseeing payment operations. Maintaining a strong culture of customer service and satisfaction is also a key responsibility. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Oversee the Cash Management and Bank Card departments and provide operational, technical, and functional guidance to department managers. Lead payment product strategies in support of organizational goals and work across departments to support product growth. Develop and maintain reporting on product usage to support strategic and operational decision-making. Represent the organization at industry events and organization-sponsored events related to payment products and strategies. Provide periodic updates and reports to senior leadership and/or the Board. Maintain efficient operations and proactively identify and address issues or opportunities for improvement. Participate in payment-related projects and initiatives. Serve as an escalation point for complex issues, problem resolution, and operational decisions. Manage relationships with payment processors, vendors, and other payment partners. Identify, document, and help reduce operational risks related to payment department functions. Promote a strong focus on customer service and customer satisfaction across payment operations. Required Skills and Knowledge To perform this job successfully, the individual should have the following knowledge, skills, and abilities: Strong understanding of the payments industry and payment processes. Knowledge of
BSA/AML, OFAC, NACHA
Operating Rules, privacy requirements, and Visa rules. Industry certification, such as Accredited ACH Professional (AAP) or National Check Professional (NCP), is helpful. Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly explain information, findings, and recommendations. Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize and delegate work effectively. Ability to analyze data, identify trends, and use findings to support business decisions. Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills. Ability to work effectively across departments and with external partners. Education and Experience 5+ years of operations management experience. 5+ years of banking operations experience preferred. Experience in one or more of the following areas: Deposit accounts ACH Funds transfers Fed funds Check processing and settlement Credit card operations
