Job Description
Chief Operating Officer Our client, a private family office with a large real estate and hospitality portfolio, is seeking a Chief Operating Officer to lead operations across a growing portfolio of properties and business interests.
Location:
This role is primarily remote, with regular in-person meetings in the San Francisco Peninsula area. This high-trust leadership role will oversee people, budgets, capital projects, vendor relationships, and operational infrastructure across multiple locations. The ideal candidate is a versatile and hands-on operator who combines financial discipline, strong project management, sound judgment, and exceptional discretion.
Responsibilities:
Lead day-to-day operations across multiple properties, locations, and supporting functions Serve as the primary operational partner to organizational leadership, maintaining effective communication and independently resolving issues when appropriate Build, lead, and develop a service-oriented team spanning property operations, administration, accounting, and related functions Oversee organizational budgets, financial reporting, cost controls, and significant expenditures Manage a growing real estate portfolio and ensure capital projects are delivered on schedule, within budget, and to established quality standards Develop and implement operational policies, procedures, systems, and governance practices Oversee vendor selection, contract negotiations, service quality, performance, and cost effectiveness Manage sensitive personnel matters with discretion and sound judgment Support property acquisitions, business expansion, and other complex strategic projects Maintain continuity of operations by flexing across responsibilities and providing direct support when coverage is needed
Requirements:
Significant senior leadership experience overseeing a major operational function, business unit, or complex private organization Strong operational, administrative, and people-management experience across multiple locations or business activities Proven success managing budgets, controlling costs, and overseeing complex capital projects ideally within real estate Experience developing scalable policies, systems, workflows, and governance structures Exceptional communication, judgment, discretion, and relationship-management skills, with the flexibility to operate effectively in a high-trust environment

Determining compensation for this role (and others) at Vaco by Highspring depends upon a wide array of factors, including but not limited to: The individual's skill sets, experience, and training; Licensure and certifications; Office location and other geographic considerations; Other business and organizational needs. With that said, as required by local law in geographies that require salary range disclosure, Vaco by Highspring notes that the salary range for the role is noted in this job posting. The individual may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses, and can participate in medical, dental, and vision benefits as well as the company's 401(k) retirement plan.
