Overview Executive Director - Unity Senior Living Unity Senior Living is seeking an experienced, compassionate, and forward-thinking Executive Director to lead our 27-apartment CBRF senior living community. At Unity, we believe senior living should feel personal — because it is. Our size allows us to know our residents, understand their individual needs, and create a community where residents are recognized as people rather than numbers on a census report. We provide a full spectrum of care and support , allowing residents to remain part of the Unity community as their needs change. Our intimate size also gives our leadership team something increasingly rare in senior living: the ability to make decisions quickly, adapt to individual resident needs, and genuinely know the people we serve. Why Unity? Unity is independently operated, which means our leadership team isn't navigating layers of corporate bureaucracy or waiting for decisions to move through a national organization. That independence works in our residents' favor. When a resident's needs change, we can respond. When a family has a concern, we can listen. When an employee has an idea, we can consider it. And when something isn't working, we have the ability to make meaningful changes. We are looking for an Executive Director who values that same philosophy and wants to be an active, visible leader within the community. The Opportunity The Executive Director is responsible for the overall leadership, operations, quality, financial performance, regulatory compliance, and resident experience of Unity Senior Living. This is a highly visible leadership role. The successful candidate will spend time with residents and families, support and develop employees, work closely with department leaders, and ensure that the community operates safely, efficiently, and in accordance with applicable Wisconsin regulations and Unity's standards. The Executive Director reports directly to the Vice President of Operations and Ownership . Key Responsibilities Provide overall leadership and direction for the Unity Senior Living community Maintain a strong presence throughout the community and foster meaningful relationships with residents, families, and employees Ensure residents receive high-quality, individualized care and services Oversee day-to-day operations and ensure the community is appropriately staffed and supported Recruit, hire, train, coach, and retain high-quality team members Develop a positive workplace culture built around accountability, teamwork, compassion, and respect Ensure compliance with Wisconsin CBRF regulations, licensing requirements, policies, and applicable laws Monitor resident satisfaction, quality of care, safety, and overall quality of life Work collaboratively with families, healthcare providers, care partners, and community resources Respond effectively to changing resident needs and operational challenges Oversee budgets, expenses, revenue, and other financial aspects of community operations Monitor occupancy and participate in marketing, outreach, and census development efforts Address employee and resident concerns promptly and professionally Lead quality improvement initiatives and maintain appropriate documentation and records Work closely with the Vice President of Operations and Ownership on strategic and operational priorities Serve as a positive ambassador for Unity Senior Living within the surrounding community What We're Looking For We are looking for a leader who understands that senior living is about people first .
The ideal candidate will be:
An experienced senior living, assisted living, healthcare, or residential care leader Familiar with Wisconsin CBRF operations and regulatory requirements A strong communicator who can work effectively with residents, families, and employees Comfortable making decisions and taking ownership of outcomes Highly organized and capable of balancing competing priorities A hands-on leader who is willing to be involved in the day-to-day operation of the community Passionate about creating an exceptional resident experience Skilled at developing, motivating, and holding team members accountable Financially and operationally minded Calm, professional, and solution-oriented when challenges arise Someone who understands that leadership in a small community means knowing residents and employees by name — and caring about them Qualifications Previous leadership or management experience in senior living, assisted living, healthcare, residential care, or a related environment Experience with CBRF operations strongly preferred Knowledge of Wisconsin senior living regulations and compliance requirements preferred Demonstrated experience leading and developing employees Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills Ability to work collaboratively with ownership and senior leadership Ability to successfully pass all required background and regulatory checks What Makes This Position Different At a large corporate senior living organization, decisions can sometimes take weeks to travel through layers of management. At Unity, leadership is close to the residents, the employees, and the decision-making process. You won't be one of dozens of executives reporting into a corporate structure. You'll have a direct relationship with the Vice President of Operations and Ownership , and you'll have the opportunity to directly influence the culture, operations, and future of the community. If you are the kind of leader who believes the best senior living communities are built through relationships, responsiveness, accountability, and genuine care , we would like to meet you. Join Unity Senior Living and help lead a community where personalized care isn't a marketing phrase — it's the way we operate.
