Full Job Description Overview:
Kinder Morgan is seeking a Regulatory Analyst to support project development activities and the ongoing operation of its interstate and midstream pipeline systems in the U.S., Mexico, and Canada. The role will support the authorization of pipeline projects at applicable state and federal agencies, ensure compliance with federal and state regulatory requirements, and manage related regulatory filings and reporting obligations. The position will provide critical regulatory guidance, strategic analysis, and industry insights to support and advance Kinder Morgan's interstate and midstream assets and growth initiatives. The role will work and collaborate closely with internal stakeholders, including project management, commercial, environmental, land, and legal representatives, to guide projects through the regulatory process from conception to in-service. Outreach and coordination with external stakeholders, such as regulatory agencies, is an important function of this role. Additionally, the role will provide support to internal and external stakeholders for regulatory requirements and reporting in the U.S., Mexico, and Canada.
Responsibilities:
Partner with cross-functional teams to provide regulatory support for the development and execution of interstate and midstream projects. Evaluate capital projects to determine regulatory requirements for their construction, operation, maintenance, and abandonment. Support development of stakeholder communication materials. Prepare recurring reports for jurisdictional entities and projects related to system capacity, contracting, design, construction, and regulatory compliance. Develop relationships with the staff of federal and state agencies during all phases of project execution and coordinate preparation and filing for recurring reports and audits. Monitor industry developments and regulatory trends relevant to Kinder Morgan's assets and commercial strategy and communicate these updates to internal stakeholders. Provide support to internal stakeholders to ensure compliance with regulations and policies. Support special projects, including research, analysis, presentations, training, and cross-functional initiatives. Maintain strong internal controls and collaborate with internal stakeholders to enhance the consistency, effectiveness, and efficiency of business processes.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree; a degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Engineering, or similar discipline is preferred. Strong analytical, critical-thinking, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and resolve complex and sensitive regulatory issues/problems. Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to convey complex information to diverse audiences. Strong collaboration and people skills with a team-oriented mindset. Highly adaptable, self-driven, and comfortable navigating shifting business priorities and industry trends. Proficient in the use of MS Office applications (PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Outlook, Access). Job level will commensurate with experience and knowledge.
