This role evaluates claims, calculates compensation, ensures compliance with applicable regulations, and supports return-to-work programs through accurate documentation and timely communication .
Roles and Responsibilities:
Indemnity is responsible for reviewing claims to determine wage replacement to employees who have sustained an industrial injury or illness Calculate the amount of compensation based on gross earnings for the year preceding the injury using Microsoft Excel and Microsoft PDF Enter and maintain records within the Access database system Generate and distribute notice based on changes in benefit Accurately file and organize benefit notices within the designated file explorer Ensure that communication for benefits is maintained through Microsoft Excel Submit claims through the Modified Duty Off-Site (MDOS) online portal respecting physical restrictions Ensure that communication regarding the (MDOS) placement is promptly conveyed to all relevant parties Accurately file and organize (MDOS) notice within the designated file explorer and Access database system Review and generate (MDOS) payroll via CSV according to schedule through an online portal, Microsoft Excel and Microsoft PDF Revise the Return-to-Work program based on any medical status reports received to assess disability status Establish the appropriate timing for discontinuing benefits and issuing a termination notice Document and oversee impairment ratings in accordance with AMA Guidelines Conduct verification of checks to ensure that payments have been processed accurately and issued as intended Issue notice of void and reissued check(s) and record information in the Access database in a timely manner while communication is conveyed to the appropriate parties Evaluate reimbursement submissions and provide precise information to accounts payable Review of UBCC payroll records to assess the potential liability associated with a new claim Utilize E-fax system to issue denial notice to appropriate facilities Must adhere to HIPPA guidelines and maintain current valid HIPPA training certificate Adheres to the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) Assist in the training of other staff. Overtime may be necessary. Assist with special projects and other requests as needed.Preferred Skills:
The Indemnity Administrator must possess a combination of intermediate computer skills, be proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word, have excellent customer skills, always maintain a professional demeanor during the scheduled workday; must be able to multitask. Indemnity Administrator is encouraged to speak Spanish, but not mandatory. Must have skills to work independently as well as on teams. In addition, excellent communication skills-both verbal and written. Possess understanding and dedication to the philosophies of the company.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Ability to sit for extended periods (up to 8 hours per day). Ability to use hands and fingers for typing and handling office equipment. Ability to see and read computer screens and printed documents. Ability to communicate clearly in person and over the phone. Occasional lifting of up to 10-20 pounds (e.g., office supplies). Ability to move within the office environment (e.g., walking short distances).
