Vendor Oversight & Process Improvement Manager - Contractor
POSITION SUMMARY
The Vendor Oversight & Process Improvement Manager Contractor will support the execution and ongoing optimization of vendor oversight processes within Clinical Development Operations. This role will partner closely with internal stakeholders and external vendors to monitor vendor performance, support governance activities, identify opportunities for process improvement, and ensure vendor activities align with business needs and applicable global regulations. The ideal candidate will have strong clinical operations and vendor oversight experience, with the ability to work cross-functionally, manage multiple priorities, and identify practical opportunities to improve existing processes, reporting, and vendor management practices.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Support the ongoing management and execution of vendor oversight processes within Clinical Development Operations. Partner with internal stakeholders to ensure consistent application and maintenance of vendor governance and oversight processes. Monitor vendor performance against established expectations, KPIs, and contractual obligations; identify risks and support mitigation activities as needed. Prepare and maintain monthly and quarterly vendor performance reporting and distribute relevant metrics and insights to stakeholders. Identify opportunities to improve vendor oversight processes, tools, workflows, and reporting, and support implementation of process improvements. Evaluate existing vendor management practices and recommend enhancements to improve efficiency, consistency, visibility, and stakeholder experience. Support vendor selection, due diligence, onboarding, ongoing performance management, and maintenance of vendor relationships. Develop and maintain materials and tools used to support vendor evaluations, annual reviews, performance assessments, and ongoing oversight. Partner with cross-functional stakeholders to ensure vendor relationships and performance remain aligned with business objectives and clinical development needs. Provide support for financial tracking, invoice review, reconciliation, and other vendor-related financial activities, as applicable. Support the administration and continuous improvement of stakeholder satisfaction surveys and feedback processes. Track vendor issues, risks, action items, and remediation activities and ensure appropriate follow-up and documentation. Support audit and inspection readiness activities related to vendor oversight, including preparation of documentation and responses during audits or compliance reviews. Contribute to the development and refinement of SOPs, work instructions, templates, and other process documentation related to vendor oversight. Identify opportunities to streamline processes and improve cross-functional communication, documentation, and operational efficiency. Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned based on evolving business needs. Model core values of integrity, innovation, collaboration, and patient focus.
REQUIREMENTS
Education Bachelor's degree in a relevant scientific, clinical, business, or related field, or equivalent experience required. Experience Minimum 5+ years of clinical research/clinical development experience, including meaningful experience with vendor oversight and management. Minimum 2 years of experience within a biotechnology or pharmaceutical company; experience in a small or emerging biotech environment is a plus. Prior people management experience is preferred. Demonstrated experience supporting vendor governance, performance management, and cross-functional stakeholder engagement. Experience identifying and implementing process improvements within clinical operations or vendor management environments. Strong understanding of the drug development process, ICH guidelines/GCP, clinical trial execution, SOPs, and relevant medical terminology. Ability to adapt and pivot quickly in a dynamic environment with changing priorities and business needs. Strong interpersonal, problem-solving, organizational, and planning skills. Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate with both internal stakeholders and external vendors. Strong attention to detail and ability to prioritize and manage multiple activities against critical deadlines. Self-motivated, collaborative, and able to work effectively with cross-functional teams. Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel. Strong preference for a local candidate; role is primarily onsite with an expectation of at least four days per week in the office.
