Community-based; travel required within service area Position Summary The Recovery Outreach Specialist is responsible for engaging individuals, families, and community partners to increase awareness of recovery resources, reduce stigma, improve access to services, and support individuals seeking help for substance use, mental health challenges, or co-occurring needs. This position focuses on outreach, engagement, early intervention, and linkage to community-based supports rather than clinical treatment. The Specialist maintains a person-centered, trauma-informed, culturally responsive approach in all interactions. Primary Responsibilities Conduct community outreach to identify individuals in need of recovery support resources and link them with appropriate services. Build relationships with community agencies, schools, treatment providers, shelters, faith organizations, hospitals, law enforcement, and other referral sources. Provide brief support, peer navigation, and encouragement to individuals exploring recovery pathways. Distribute resource materials, harm reduction supplies (if applicable), and recovery support information at community events and outreach locations. Coordinate and participate in community presentations, health fairs, overdose prevention events, and awareness campaigns. Maintain accurate documentation of outreach activities, contacts, referrals, and services provided in the required data system. Assist individuals and families with referrals to detox, treatment, peer support groups, recovery housing, mental health services, or crisis intervention. Participate in team meetings, supervision sessions, and required trainings. Demonstrate professionalism, integrity, and confidentiality in all work performed. Adhere to grant, contract, and organizational requirements regarding reporting and service delivery. Qualifications Lived experience in recovery and/or experience working in substance use, peer support, harm reduction, social services, or behavioral health is strongly preferred. Recovery Peer certification is a plus, but not mandatory. Strong communication and relationship-building skills with diverse populations. Ability to work independently, manage a flexible schedule, and complete tasks in a timely manner. Must possess reliable transportation, a valid driver's license, and applicable auto insurance. Ability to use basic technology for email, virtual meetings, and documentation. Contract Requirements Must be eligible to work as an independent contractor (1099). Must pass a Level 2 background Screening Responsible for own taxes, insurance, and mileage. Flexible schedule; evenings and weekends may occur based on community events. Work Environment This position works in community settings, outreach locations, public events, and occasionally office or virtual meetings. The Specialist must be comfortable with field-based engagement, speaking with the public, and supporting individuals in crisis or early recovery.Pay:
