This role involves handling novel, difficult, and high-risk issues, even when faced with unclear or ambiguous facts, seeking guidance from leadership when necessary. A Senior Corporate Counsel effectively conveys advanced information, persuades diverse audiences, and develops trusting partnerships with key clients. They are accountable for results, ensuring properly calibrated escalation, and coach and mentor junior team members while educating the broader Legal team on legal concepts within their area of expertise. Responsibilities

+ Serves as subject matter expert for Public Sector Contracts

+ Draft, review, and negotiate a broad range of agreement types, partnering with Indeed's public sector focused teams to manage the full contract lifecycle, including amendments, renewals, and modifications

+ Partner with various stakeholders across the company, including Privacy, Product and Engineering teams to advise on complex transactions;

+ Shares information, identifies training gaps, and educates key business partners and the Legal team on important legal concepts and best practices. Develops and delivers training content in consultation with manager

+ Anticipates and resolves difficult issues in conversations with partners and/or legal negotiations

+ Develops strategic relationships with key business partners, and is seen as a trusted advisor to business on public sector issues

+ Provides solutions-focused advice for dealing with legal issues by thinking creatively, adapting to changes in the business and the law, and with a business perspective in mind.

+ Effectively engages and manages outside counsel while controlling costs

+ Uses knowledge and experience to mentor junior members of the team Skills/Competencies

+ Requires a JD, a minimum of 7 years experience negotiating complex public sector agreements with federal, state, and/or local government customers and prime contractors

+ Member in good standing of any US Bar

+ Extensive knowledge of US public sector contracting law and procedure and exposure to public sector contracting in international markets

+ Experience advising businesses on selling into the government and public sector directly (or negotiating on behalf of a government entity) and with reseller agreements, distribution agreements, partnership agreements, and other potential go-to-market and procurement strategies

+ Proven problem-solving, communication and negotiation skills with the ability to collaborate across teams

+ Ability to translate legal concepts into clear, practical guidance.

+ Ability to balance legal risk with practical business considerations

+ Effective project management and organizational skills.

+ Ability to build collaborative working relationships across teams.
