(SSU) is a defense industry-based company, that is veteran owned and operated by military-minded professionals with decades of special operations and intelligence experience, focused on enabling the warfighter, or servicing government organizations and the commercial sector. Domestically or internationally, SSU provides a large business experience as a Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business (SDVOSB). SSU is currently recruiting for a Capture Manager to join our team. This role is responsible for the full lifecycle of business development and proposal efforts. This is a hands-on position suited for a self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced environment and can manage multiple priorities independently. The ideal candidate will be skilled in identifying, tracking, and capturing opportunities; managing proposal processes; and authoring compelling, compliant proposals.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Identify and qualify new business opportunities through government portals (e.g., SAM.gov), market research, and industry networking. Conduct competitive analysis, SWOT assessments, and win strategy development. Engage with potential partners and build teaming arrangements, NDAs, and subcontractor agreements. Develop and maintain opportunity pipelines and capture plans. Establish relationships with agency stakeholders and understand customer requirements. Lead and manage the proposal development lifecycle from kickoff to delivery. Develop proposal schedules, compliance matrices, and outlines. Coordinate inputs from internal SMEs, subcontractors, and external consultants. Conduct color team reviews (Pink, Red, Gold) and manage version control. Ensure proposals are compliant, compelling, and submitted on time. Write, edit, and format technical and management proposal content. Tailor boilerplate material and past performance narratives to align with each solicitation. Integrate graphics, resumes, and technical data into the final proposal. Translate complex ideas into clear, persuasive language suitable for evaluators.
Required Professional Qualifications:
Required:
Bachelor's degree in English, Communications, Business, or a related field. Minimum 5 years of experience in federal or commercial proposal development. Demonstrated experience managing full proposal lifecycles and writing winning proposals. Familiarity with FAR, DFARS, and common government procurement vehicles. Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Adobe Acrobat, and proposal tools (e.g., SharePoint, RFPIO, or similar). APMP certification is a plus but not required.
