Bechtel is building a semiconductor manufacturing plant in New Albany, Ohio. We are partnering with the North America Building Trades Unions and suppliers to create several thousand new jobs and work with local education organizations to implement new training programs that will support the future talent pipeline. Bechtel Manufacturing & Technology, Inc. offers engineering, procurement, and construction services for customers in the semiconductor manufacturing, electric vehicle, and data center markets. Headquartered in Reston, Virginia, the M&T global business unit also includes colleagues working in Arizona, Ohio, Texas, India, and additional project locations around the world.Job Summary:
In this role, you will lead a team to manage subcontracts and monitor operations. You will develop the subcontracting strategy, operating procedures, staffing plan, and the contracts section of the Project Execution Plan. You will review and approve bid details, commitments, and negotiations. Your oversight will ensure project subcontracting is consistent and that requirements have been implemented. #LI-RG1Major Responsibilities:
- Participates with the project team on a small to medium sized project in defining and developing the scope of Contracts work, and in preparing and coordinating Contracts plans, procedures, schedules, estimates, forecasts, and budgets
- Prepares and/or directs preparation of commercial terms and conditions for use on project contract documents, ensuring that requirements of the prime contract are incorporated
- Participates in the development of the Supply Chain Assignment Schedule and the division of responsibility
- Coordinates Contract execution plan with Engineering and Construction plans and operations to ensure that input from these disciplines will enable Contracts to perform its functions in accordance with project plans
- Reviews evaluations with global business unit functional managers and the global business unit Manager of Supply Chain
- Manages the Subcontract for a contract of low to medium risk or complexity
- Provides functional direction and/or supervision to all assigned subcontracts personnel and monitors operations to ensure all activities are performed in accordance with project requirements and applicable directives, management instruction, procedures, and functional guidelines
- Develops and implements the subcontracting strategy for assigned project or office, incl. development and translation of the Supply Chain Assignment Schedule into a specific working contracting plan
- Reviews bid tabulations for accuracy, bidder recommendation, completeness, and approves selection of bidders within delegated approval authority
- Ensures all commitments made by subordinate personnel are accurately presented and follow established approval and signing authorities contained in company policies and procedures
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 10-13 years of relevant experience or 14-17 years of relevant work experience
Required Knowledge and Skills:
- Demonstrated knowledge of contract management principles, practices, and procedures applicable to engineering, procurement, construction, and project management environments.
- Experience administering complex contracts, subcontracts, and commercial agreements throughout the project lifecycle.
- Strong understanding of contract terms and conditions, risk allocation, claims management, change management, and dispute resolution processes.
- Knowledge of procurement and subcontracting strategies for large capital projects.
- Experience providing guidance, coaching, and mentorship to contracts professionals and project teams to support issue resolution, performance improvement, and professional development.
- Familiarity with commercial, legal, and regulatory requirements affecting project execution, contract compliance, and supply chain activities.
- Ability to identify, evaluate, and mitigate commercial and contractual risks.
- Experience supporting contract negotiations with clients, suppliers, subcontractors, and joint venture partners.
- Strong stakeholder management and relationship-building skills across internal and external organizations.
- Knowledge of project controls, cost management, scheduling, and project execution processes as they relate to contractual performance.
- Demonstrated commitment to ethics, compliance, quality, and safety standards.
- Significant experience in contracts administration, commercial management, procurement, or project management.
