Contracts Specialist (Discovery Sciences & Research Services) Role Overview We are seeking a detail-oriented, analytical, and communicative Contracts Specialist to join our team and manage assigned agreements for outsourced discovery science services. In this role, you will draft, review, negotiate, and finalize third-party research agreements—including confidentiality agreements (CDAs), work orders, amendments, and scientific software/SaaS contracts—while applying established templates, fallback positions, and playbooks. This is a high-volume remote contracting position for a procurement professional who excels at managing concurrent agreements and interfacing directly with external suppliers. You will track contract workflows within our Contract Lifecycle Management (CLM) system, identify non-standard risk terms, create purchase requisitions in SAP Ariba, and ensure seamless contracting execution in support of cutting-edge research activities. Agreement Finalization:
Draft, review, negotiate, and finalize assigned agreements for outsourced discovery science services, discovery research, and research-supporting SaaS platforms. Supplier Negotiations:
Engage directly with third-party suppliers to close agreements efficiently while strictly adhering to organizational templates, playbooks, and approved fallback positions. Risk Identification:
Review terms for legal and commercial risks (including intellectual property, confidentiality, indemnification, limitation of liability, and payment terms); identify non-standard deviations and summarize proposed options for leadership review. Volume Management:
Handle a high volume of concurrent contract assignments, meeting agreed timelines and dynamically adjusting priorities. Systems Administration & Procurement Support CLM Governance:
Utilize the enterprise Contract Lifecycle Management (CLM) system for all intake, drafting, version control, status tracking, and record keeping to ensure audit-readiness. SAP Ariba Integration:
Create and process purchase requisitions in SAP Ariba for fully executed agreements as assigned. Status Reporting:
Provide regular, accurate status updates on assigned contract portfolios to contracting leads and stakeholders. Qualifications & Requirements Minimum Qualifications Education:
Bachelor's degree in Business, Administration, Law, a scientific discipline, or a related field. Experience Baseline:
Minimum of 2+ years of professional contract drafting and negotiation experience within a pharmaceutical, biotechnology, CRO, or life sciences procurement environment.

Technical & Functional Mastery:
oWorking knowledge of common commercial and legal provisions (Intellectual Property, confidentiality, indemnification, limitation of liability, and payment terms). oDemonstrated success managing a high volume of concurrent agreements with high accuracy and attention to detail. oHands-on experience working within established legal templates, playbooks, and contract lifecycle management (CLM) software systems. oProficiency with Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Word, Excel).
Core Competencies:
Clear, professional written and verbal communication skills; adept at direct external supplier negotiations; comfortable utilizing AI drafting/review tools to support contracting workflows. Preferred Attributes - Specialized contracting experience covering outsourced research services (e.g., preclinical CROs, discovery biology, or chemistry services).
- Academic background or scientific literacy in biology, chemistry, or a related scientific discipline sufficient to translate technical research deliverables into contract language.
- Prior experience executing software and SaaS agreements (including data platform agreements) in a research context.
- Working proficiency with SAP Ariba or comparable enterprise procurement systems. Logistics & Work Environment
