Job Description

This position is located in the DEA, Human Resources Division, Office of Training, Academy Operations Section, Financial Management Unit (OTAF). This position(s) primary purpose is to approve invoices and voucher for payment in a highly automated financial management and acquisition system; performs analysis of financial information using queries and reports; provides customer support; validates accounting data, reconciles accounts; and analyzes accounting processes. If you are qualifying based on education or if there are mandatory education requirements listed below, you MUST submit a copy of your college transcripts with your application. Applicants applying for the GS-09 must meet one of the following requirements: A. Have at least one full year of specialized experience that is at least equivalent to work performed at the GS-07 grade level. Specialized experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Qualifying experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Assisting with processing invoices, travel requests, reimbursements and account information; 2) Supporting invoice and voucher processing by checking documents against policies and regulations; 3) Reviewing records and documents to ensure information is accurate and complete; 4) Performing routine research on outstanding payments or financial discrepancies; and 5) Identifying simple errors or missing information and follows established procedures to correct them. Education:
Have a Master's or equivalent graduate degree -or- two (2) full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree; or LL.B. or J.D., if related. OR C.
Combination of Education and Experience:
A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18 ) by 18. Add the two percentages. Applicants applying for the GS-11 must meet one of the following requirements: A. Have at least one full year of specialized experience that is at least equivalent to work performed at the GS-09 grade level. Specialized experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Qualifying experience must demonstrate the following: 1) ) Resolving transaction issues by researching discrepancies, missing information or payment errors; 2) Providing guidance and customer support on financial, accounting and travel-related transactions; 3) Processing and verifying invoices, contracts, travel orders, and reimbursements claims using financial systems 4) Preparing reports and provides status updates on financial activities and processing timelines; and, 5) Conducting detailed reviews to ensure payments meet agency regulations and internal controls. Education:
Have a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree -or- three (3) full academic years of graduate level education leading to such a degree; or LL.M., if related. OR C.
Combination of Education and Experience:
A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36 ) by 18. Add the two percentages.
