We hire the best to provide the best service. Le'fant is seeking an experienced FOIA Analyst to perform mid-level Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) processing with minimal supervision. This role reviews and interprets FOIA requests, conducts or validates searches, applies appropriate exemptions, prepares releasable records, and ensures responses comply with statutory requirements and program standards. The FOIA Analyst supports the accuracy, consistency, and quality of FOIA responses while assisting in managing case workflow. This role also provides guidance to junior analysts and contributes to maintaining efficient FOIA operations. Working alongside senior FOIA professionals in an on-site environment provides practical exposure to federal FOIA program operations. Analysts in this role develop deeper experience applying exemptions, reviewing responsive records, and supporting the lifecycle of FOIA requests while collaborating with program leadership and supporting junior team members. This position is performed on-site at a customer location. Telework, with a minimum of one in-office day per week, may be approved on a case-by-case basis based on training, knowledge, performance, and customer approval.
What You'll Do:
Receive and log incoming FOIA and Privacy Act requests into a tracking system such as SecureRelease Review requests for completeness and communicate with requesters if additional information is required Maintain organized electronic and physical case files for FOIA requests Conduct or assist with searches for responsive records across agency systems and repositories Review records for responsiveness and identify information potentially subject to FOIA exemptions Prepare documents for release, including redaction preparation and formatting of releasable records Draft routine correspondence, including acknowledgment letters and status updates, for senior review Maintain accurate case data in FOIA tracking systems to support reporting and compliance Convert and organize hard copy records into electronic formats for processing and review Provide document management and records preparation support to facilitate efficient FOIA workflow Provide guidance and support to junior analysts and collaborate with team members to maintain consistent processing standards
Requirements:
Must be a U.S. citizen All work must be performed within the United States or at the customer site Must have the ability to pass the U.S. Coast Guard /Department of Homeland Security (DHS) background investigation, criteria include but are not limited to: 1-year check for misconduct such as theft or fraud 1-year check for illegal drug use 3-year check for felony conviction
Education and Experience:
Bachelor's or Master's degree and three (3) years of general experience; OR Six (6) years general experience and one (1) year of experience reviewing and processing FOIA requests or supporting privacy compliance. General experience is defined as experience gained in an office or administrative setting. Strong written and verbal communication skills Strong attention to detail and organizational abilities Ability to manage multiple requests and maintain accurate documentation
Preferred:
Experience with SecureRelease FOIA processing system is a plus. Experience processing FOIA requests within a federal agency FOIA program or contractor support environment is strongly preferred.
Additional Information:
This role is contingent upon contract award. We are connecting with qualified candidates now to support potential program startup if the contract is awarded. Position duties, work location, schedule, and compensation may be adjusted to align with final contract requirements and labor category determinations at the time of award.
