Job Description
New Leaf Recreation Therapy LLC Help Kids Build Skills Through Activities They Enjoy New Leaf Recreation Therapy LLC is seeking motivated and dependable Recreation Therapy Providers to provide individualized services to children and youth participating in Wisconsin's Children's Long-Term Support (CLTS) program. This is a hands-on, community-based position for someone who enjoys working with children and creating meaningful activities that support personal growth. Providers use recreation and everyday experiences to help clients strengthen social, emotional, behavioral, physical, cognitive, and independent living skills. Position Overview Providers work individually with clients in their homes and local communities. Each session is based on the client's interests, abilities, and individualized goals. Depending on the client, sessions may involve: Outdoor recreation, hiking, parks, and nature-based activities Sports, exercise, and physical activity Arts, crafts, and creative projects Board games, card games, and other recreational activities Cooking, meal preparation, and practical life skills Social interaction and communication activities Community outings and practicing community-based skills Sensory and relaxation activities Activities focused on confidence, independence, and decision-making Other recreational experiences based on the client's interests and needs Providers have flexibility to be creative and adapt activities to each individual client. Compensation & Flexibility $100 per 2-hour therapy session ($50/hour) 1099 independent contractor position Part-time and full-time opportunities may be available Flexible scheduling Schedule sessions around your availability and assigned clients Services take place primarily in client homes and community settings Travel throughout your assigned service area is required Opportunity to take on additional clients as availability allows Who We're Looking For We are interested in applicants who enjoy working with children and have experience in recreational, educational, behavioral, therapeutic, or youth-focused settings.
Relevant backgrounds may include:
Recreation Therapy / Therapeutic Recreation Special education Psychology Social work Counseling Behavioral health or behavioral support Childcare or youth development Coaching or athletics Physical education Human services Camp or after-school programs Outdoor recreation Arts, music, or other activity-based fields You do not necessarily need extensive Recreation Therapy experience. We value individuals who are dependable, patient, creative, adaptable, and comfortable building relationships with children and families. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Therapeutic Recreation or another qualifying field Experience working with children, adolescents, and/or individuals with disabilities Ability to independently plan and lead recreational activities Strong communication and organizational skills Ability to work independently with minimal supervision Reliable transportation for travel to client locations Regular access to a computer for documentation Ability to successfully complete required background checks Willingness to maintain professional liability insurance as required for independent contractors Preferred Qualifications The following are helpful but are not required : Recreation Therapy or Therapeutic Recreation experience Experience working with developmental or behavioral disabilities First Aid/CPR certification Experience providing services in homes or community settings Experience developing individualized activities or interventions Experience working with children with special needs Responsibilities Recreation Therapy Providers will: Review individualized client goals and develop appropriate activities Plan and conduct one-on-one recreation therapy sessions Use recreation to encourage skill development and independence Support social, emotional, physical, cognitive, and behavioral development Help clients participate more successfully in their communities Adjust activities according to the client's needs, interests, and progress Track client participation and progress Complete required session notes and progress documentation Communicate professionally with parents, caregivers, and members of the client's support team Maintain appropriate professional boundaries and confidentiality Follow New Leaf policies and applicable professional standards Participate in required training and staff communication Communicate with New Leaf regarding scheduling, client needs, and service delivery Why Work With New Leaf?
