Job Description

Medical Director (MD/DO)
  • Aesthetic Med Spa, Part-Time SMP Scalp Micropigmentation CA (SMPCA Academy) San Lorenzo, CA Job Details Part-time | Contract $2,500
  • $8,000 a month 1 day ago Benefits Flexible schedule Qualifications Medicine Medical License Full Job Description Medical Director
  • new aesthetic med spa, East Bay SMPCA is an established scalp micropigmentation studio and training academy in San Lorenzo, expanding into aesthetic medicine.
We have the space and an established client base. We are looking for a California-licensed physician to serve as Medical Director and build the clinical side correctly from the start. We are not looking for a name on a wall. The PC/MSO structure will be built with healthcare counsel before any clinical service line opens, and we want the Medical Director involved in how it is set up rather than handed a finished document.
SCOPE OF THE ROLE
Serve as Medical Director with clinical oversight of aesthetic service lines Develop and maintain protocols and standing orders Conduct or delegate good-faith exams per California requirements Chart review on a defined, documented cadence Establish the delegation grid: which procedures, which license classes, what competency standard Be reachable for clinical escalation and emergencies, with defined response times Oversee training and competency sign-off for
NP/PA/RN
staff
TIME COMMITMENT
Roughly 10 to 20 hours per month once open, including at least one on-site visit, with a heavier load during setup and launch. That is our estimate, not a fixed demand. If you look at the scope above and think it needs more, we would rather hear that now.
PLANNED SERVICE LINES
Neuromodulators and dermal filler, laser and energy-based treatments, IV therapy and nutrient infusion, medically supervised weight management, and advanced skin treatments.
REQUIREMENTS
Active, unrestricted California medical license (MD or DO) Current malpractice coverage, or willingness to obtain it Background in aesthetics, dermatology, plastics, or emergency/family medicine with aesthetic experience Working knowledge of California Corporate Practice of Medicine requirements, SB 351, and Medical Board guidance Available for on-site presence on a defined schedule
STRUCTURE AND OWNERSHIP
Under California's corporate practice of medicine doctrine, the professional corporation providing clinical services must be physician-owned. The Medical Director is expected to hold that ownership, with a management services agreement between the PC and SMPCA covering the non-clinical side: space, equipment, marketing, and administration. We are happy to walk through the intended structure in detail on a call. TERMS Compensation is a fair-market-value fixed monthly retainer, set independently of revenue or patient volume, and scaled to the oversight the role actually requires. One-year initial term. Formal Medical Director Agreement covering scope, supervision cadence, delegation, emergency availability, insurance, indemnification, and termination.
TO APPLY
Send your CV and a note on your aesthetic experience and availability. Happy to talk openly on a first call, including exactly where the legal and structural work currently stands.
