ABOUT US
The Matcha Bike is a mobile matcha bar that serves the University of Miami campus five days a week and does private events and brand activations around Miami. We are growing from one bike to two on campus and need someone to own daily operations so the founders can step back from the bikes.THE ROLE
You are the person in charge when the bikes are open. You run both carts as one operation: opening, service flow, staffing, inventory, close-down, and the commissary prep that feeds them. Our baristas are mostly UM students with shifting class schedules, so a big part of the job is building a schedule and a system that holds up when people are busy. You will own the systems, spot the bottlenecks, fix them, and keep the founders informed without needing them on site.Schedule:
Monday to Friday, roughly 7:30am to 5:30pm, with occasional early mornings, late evenings, and weekend events. Full-time, salaried, in person at the University of Miami (Coral Gables).WHAT YOU WILL DO
- Run day-to-day service across both bikes: setup, service, teardown, and end-of-day close
- Build and manage the weekly staff schedule around student availability, keep shifts covered, and handle call-outs
- Train and coach baristas on drink standards, speed, station roles, and customer service
- Design and improve service flow (station layout, order handoff, ticketing, ice, prep pars) so lines move and drinks stay consistent
- Own inventory and ordering: matcha, milks, syrups, cups, ice, supplies; keep pars stocked and waste low
- Coordinate morning prep and restocking with the commissary kitchen
- Handle Square POS, Square Shifts, and basic sales reporting; flag issues and trends
- Keep both carts and the prep area clean, organized, and health-code compliant
- Lead setup and service at off-campus events and activations when scheduled
- Report to the founders daily on sales, staffing, and problems, and propose fixes rather than waiting for direction
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
- 1 to 2+ years managing a team in coffee, food service, or hospitality (shift lead, assistant manager, or manager)
- Experience with Square POS and staff scheduling; inventory and ordering experience a plus
- Strong on systems and organization: you notice what is slowing things down and fix it
- Comfortable leading a young, part-time team and setting standards without micromanaging
- Reliable, early-rising, and fine with a physical outdoor job in Miami weather (standing, lifting up to 50 lbs, loading and unloading carts)
- Calm under a rush; can jump on a station and make drinks when needed
- Valid driver's license; comfortable driving a cargo van for hauling is a plus
- Food handler or ServSafe certification a plus (we will get you certified if not)
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
- $50,000 to $58,000 per year depending on experience
- Free drinks and employee discount
- Real ownership of a growing operation, with a direct line to the founders
