Job Description

Old Bay Marina is a small family-run marina looking for a hands-on, self-driven leader to take ownership of day-to-day operations. This is a working manager position. You will be leading the team while actively working alongside them. The right person is proactive, detail-oriented, and naturally takes initiative without needing constant direction.
What This Role Looks Like:
No two days are the same. Weekends (peak season): You'll be in the yard and on the docks . Working with and leading a team for haul-outs and launches, coordinating with mechanics, checking lines, interacting with customers, and helping keep operations running smoothly. This is a hands-on, high-activity time where you'll both lead and work alongside others.
Weekdays:
A mix of office and field work. Some days are busy with calls and customers, others are slower and you'll be expected to stay productive by identifying and completing tasks around the marina (maintenance, organization, improvements, etc.).
Responsibilities:
Oversee and manage daily marina operations Lead by example, work alongside staff while directing tasks Work with and lead a team for haul-outs and launches Coordinate haul-outs, launches, and storage Answer phones and assist customers; sell slips and services Keep accurate notes on customer interactions, scheduling, and follow-ups Perform routine dock walks (check lines, boats, overall safety) Operate (or learn to operate) marina equipment, including travelift Perform general maintenance: Cutting grass, Minor repairs, Property upkeep and organization Conduct routine equipment checks (including travelift) Identify problems and take initiative to fix them without being asked

This role is best suited for someone who: Stays busy without being told what to do Notices problems and fixes them proactively Leads a team while also working alongside them Prefers hands-on work over sitting in an office If you are looking for a structured role with a set daily task list, this position will not be the right fit.
Schedule:
Full-time Weekends required during peak season (Friday-Sunday) Two weekdays off (flexible)

Yes No This role requires frequent customer interaction, including answering phone calls, assisting walk-in customers, explaining pricing, and helping sell marina services such as slip rentals and storage. For example, you may need to handle multiple calls in a day and follow up with potential customers. Are you comfortable handling customer interactions and discussing/selling services? Yes No This role involves keeping track of customer conversations, scheduling, and follow-ups. For example, you may speak with a customer about a slip or service and need to remember details days later. What system or method do you use to keep track of tasks, customer interactions, and important information? This role requires a basic working knowledge of boats and marina operations (lines, docking, terminology, general safety, etc.). Casual exposure (such as friends or family owning a boat) is not considered sufficient. Which best describes your experience? I have hands-on experience working at a marina or in a similar environment I have personal boating experience and understand basic operations (docking, lines, terminology, etc.) I have limited or no relevant experience This is a hands-on position that requires daily physical work, including lifting heavy materials, working outdoors in various weather conditions, walking the docks, and assisting with boat operations.
